This list (and others in the future) is meant to be catalogue of the anime that have released in a particular year.

(Also, if I don't have a star with a number for the anime, it means that I couldn't find it).

To sum up 1917 in anime, it was the first year for anime (as documented on MAL), but it is hard to fully talk about the year as most of the anime around that time are lost media. The only anime that isn't lost media from that year was Nakamura Gatana, and judging from it's quality, it seemed that anime had a long way to go to become what it is today.
