Do you like watching trashy 80/90s OVAs and movies that are violent, stupid, and nonsensical? Well this list is for you. Some of these are pretty famous in the community like Violence Jack and M.D. Geist, but I made sure to really dumpster dive for some obscure trash for all of you garbage connoisseurs out there.

Adaptations that share nothing with their source material but the title, some characters' names, and maybe even the premise, to the point you could change the title and no one would tell it's an adaptation. Remakes/reboots/sequels/localizations also included.

Spiritual & Ethereal anime, anime that are Metaphysical or Existential or Philosophical journeys, or an Ontological Odyssey, or Transcendentals, Epistemological Enigmas, or Metaphoricals, or Existentialist Experiments or Cosmic Contemplations.

List of little lesser known anime closely based on or directly adapting video games, not including any visual novels or gacha. Mostly focused on JRPGs. In the case of video games with many anime, not all will be listed but will be mentioned in the notes. (In Progress)

I’m using the term “horror” very loosely so anything that is disturbing/creepy or aims to be counts.

Animaze was a company that was formed in 1992 by Kevin Seymour and was in-work up until about 2008 following a closure in 2010 after Seymour had passed away. Animaze, outside of anime, has also dubbed many video games! Regardless, as follows are the anime that Animaze have dubbed! Hokuto no Ken and Super Dimension Century Orguss are excluded because they did not dub the full show!

For some odd reason Animaze decided to dub Orguss 02 instead of finishing the orginal show.

Anime that weirdly made me think back on the the PS1 or PS2. Wether it is for the essence of the show or being reminiscent of gaming trends that were popular back in the day.

I'll just call it "vibes".


*I may add games for simply having had very prominent adaptations that are iconic to those platforms.
