These anime are about girls from influential families that loose everything after the betrayal of there brother. Both girls also suffer bad treatment because of the actions of their brother. And in order to gain what they have lost the have to fight with robots. The starts of the anime are very strong and leave a good impression.

Both animes are set in space with a Sci-fi motif. The characters go through emotional arcs and work through self discovery. If you liked one you will like the other.

Both are mecha series with a prominently female cast and a bait-and-switch beginning.

There is no doubt that sci-fiction and military themes are present in both of these series. Additionally, there is action and drama and even signs of psychological identity in both series as the episodes progresses.

Sci-Fi. Fights with machines. Future.

Both of these focus in space and even similar plot lines at times with deep jealousy drive some of these characters. They are a mix of drama and mecha also with couple of great actions scenes.

Both are space animes, and their stories are quite similar - starship with the students on board is forced to fight against superior enemy forces. Also, in both animes protagonist is a serious girl.

Teenage girl soldiers lose everything and find themselves confronting a loved one as the enemy. Both shows feature misleading first episodes, strong character arcs, and brutal battles where anyone can die. Both also feature occasional bouts of gratuitous nudity and shallow yuri fanservice, which may be a minor bonus or a minor annoyance, depending on taste.

drama mecha these could be considered with a hint of nice action. Both focus on the physiological aspect of the characters and show great progression as they fight through the pain of the past. Also both have some romance it which adds to the story somewhat.

Both are similar in their structure, length, and style. Both are set in the far future and share several plot elements.

Women pilots fighting in a war. Plot revolves around complex character relationships and the drama that ensues.

Similar battle animation. Plot that involves aliens and similar feel to anime.

Both of them show a desperate struggle against a foreign enemy using mecha that can either be a blessing or a curse. The Strains are only good if you have a mimic for them while the Fafner's slowly eat away at the pilot. Both have a major dramatic climax that leads to the resolution.

Similar background, almost identical in terms of atmosphere and plot. If you liked one you'll most surely like the other.

Both have the element of intergalactic battle and use light speed theory as a key element.

Murder Princess is an action-packed that is so enthralling that you would want to watch it all in one go (which I did). Soukou no Strain was one of such animes for me but its more lengthy though (which wasn't a bad thing since like for Murder Princess I still want more and wish there were!).

Both are sci fi animes and both have an interesting storyline! (: I watched Strain first and then Blue Gender and I really loved both of them. both also involve characters that die off easily at the beginning of the series.
