Non Non Biyori

Hotaru Ichijou's lifestyle completely changes when she leaves Tokyo and moves with her family to the isolated Asahigaoka village. Her new school has only five students including herself, all sharing a single classroom regardless of grade level. There are no convenience stores in the area, and it can take up to two hours for a bus to arrive.

Nevertheless, Hotaru finds herself captivated by the countryside's charm thanks to her four unique schoolmates with whom she quickly forms a genuine bond. The most colorful of them is Renge Miyauchi, a first-grader who is often perceptive despite her age. However, no less intriguing are the three Koshigaya siblings: the quiet oldest brother Suguru, the petite older sister Komari, and the prankish youngest sister Natsumi.

Having someone from the city join their cheerful little group enlivens the ordinary days in Asahigaoka. Not only does Hotaru bring firsthand knowledge from the alluring outside world, but her fresh outlook on life welcomes a blossom of change to their usual routine.

Modern anime alongside modern media feel vary fast, due to a plethora of reason attention spans are dropping it seems collectively as a species we have lost interest in the slow parts of life and seem to render them off. This show is a break from all this, what happens in the show? What is its hook? hows the drama? these kinds of questions seem sharp when pointed at this show. what happens? moe happens, and its perfect. and you NEED to watch it!

As a self proclaimed conousour of CGDCT ive seen many concepts, girls playing music, girls in tanks, girls that are gun?!? (ill ... review it eventually) never once have i seen a concept as plain as this one, a girl moves to the country. Thats all we get, no niches to incite. Even with this it has been one of the most entertaining Sol Ive ever seen. the music is mixing with the constant sound of nature in this show each character has a kind of theme that plays when they're around, the instruments change slightly to match their personality's and the motifs they each have begin to merge together beautifully when they interact, the art especially the background and landscapes is immaculate and museum worthy. Ive never really had a comfort show, i guess i could never get too into story worlds, too worried about life to live it, that seems to be what this show fights against its a reminder that you should do something away from flashing lights, cook a meal, dry some fruit, ride a bike but whatever it is do it slow and with care. that word, care, is exactly what i like about this show it has care behind the calm hills aren't drawn that way due to the animators running out of time it was meant to be that way.

the characters are perfect dialog flows so seamlessly between them i could just listen for hours. gags aren't groundbreaking but usually funny. and after a year of time with them at the end of the season i found myself waving back at the characters, smiling like a child again. now,after all that soaking sop! The meat! The pure moe bliss! everything in this show is cute, the art, the music, the jokes,dogs,cats,rice,grass,potholes,the whole damn show! name an aspect and it'll be cute, well cute may not be the right word for it, i would say moe but that while being present isn't it either. Iyashikei isnt it? the term for this kind of show, if i had one word to describe this show it would be iyashi (healing) my like my worsening vision and worsening hearing is reversed, i can see like a child again innocently gazing upon the beauty of the world. one thing you get told is people become complacent with the common, bored of the usual, even if the world is just a pretty as always. its imperative to remind yourself of that, and negate it. this show reminds will you that, so well infact that it could be used as a replacement for that (you know who you are @w@). forget the flashing lights, the constant stress, the impending void and sit, smile and relax in the countryside. comfort show... i never really had a comfort show but yeah, i think that's a good term for it.

anyways, anybody feel like moving to hokaido?

Mixed Feelings

Biyori is exactly what it says on the tin. It's a cute slice of life adventure series with a small class of students which get up to typical slice of life shenanigans.

Take a few students and an irresponsible homeroom teacher, and you're set for a pretty decent show. The characters bounce off of each other from time to time, but I feel there could have been some more interesting character interactions than the ones that are frequented in the show. Regardless, the humor hits pretty well, it's surprisingly relatable some of the times for what is supposed to be some primary school students qualms ... about life.

The art is nice, the landscapes are very pretty and the characters are drawn well. The setting of the idyllic countryside is a comforting locale for the aforementioned shenanigans that the cast find themselves in, and the soundtrack is pretty good too.

All in all, it's a pretty standard slow-burn series that's held up entirely by its characters. If you like them, you'll like their adventures, but if you don't enjoy most of the cast you'll find it pretty tricky to enjoy this one.

The story is sort of about some country kids who have moved from Tokyo and are experiencing culture shock with their new environment as most people will, especially at a very young age like these girls are. It's a feel-good series that will brighten your days even if your sad with rare touching moments in it. Not a very original plot with cliched characters.

I don't know why people are so into these characters, they're pretty much your typical whiny kid. The only one I like out of the bunch and is my favorite character is Natsumi, now she was fun to watch but not great ... because she does get explosive. But the other characters are mediocre, Hotaru is a crybaby, Komari is a know-it-all who hates being called and treated like a little girl. And the youngest girl (I forgot her name but I think it's Rin), rather acts more like an adult than a kid.

I'm one who doesn't think this needs a sequel because I'm not fond of Non Non Biyori, it was a childish and silly comedy series with some weird elements to it, not surprising for a series aimed at kids but even they might find some of the series' music too babyish. Though, the series is not very very weird but it's still weird. Though, some parts did make me laugh but some jokes fell flat.
