i loved this!

i found lesson xx’s portrayal of being a queer high schooler to be incredibly relatable. from believing your attraction and thoughts are wrong to your classmates erupting into laughter at the implication of someone being queer. i painfully found myself in both shizuka & sakura’s journey of figuring out their queerness.

shizuka & sakura’s relationship is corny and predictable but sweet and awkward. despite going through a bump, they communicate and listen to each other.

sometimes the shots are awkward and its unfortunate we didnt see sakura’s struggle with his queerness more in depth, but overall a great watch.

Lesson XX is a cute 49mn long anime with a rather simple and straightforward plot.

It's been spared from the biggest cliches you usually find in BL stories, that's pretty refreshing.

The characters are interesting, even the side ones who don't get a lot of screen time (there's only so much you can do in a 49mn anime).

The soundtrack is actually pretty good.

You probably won't feel overwhelmed by strong emotions after watching this.
Lesson XX should be seen for what it is : a short and simple BL story.

Easily one of the cutest OVAs I’ve seen in a long time.

It can be summed up pretty simply ; two high school boys at a boarding school fall in love. The setting and characters are what really makes it stand out. It’s simple, easy to watch, and the characters have just enough depth to keep any viewer invested.

While women in these types of shows are infamously misrepresented, this isn’t the case for once. The side characters are interesting and well crafted. Most importantly, they move the plot ahead rather than plotting to destroy the romance - which is a refreshing change. There’s an endearing ... monologue one character gives to motivate the protagonist into following his heart; which seems like a sweet little self-insert from the writer.

The animation is dated. Not in a bad way, it holds up well if you know what you’re getting into. There’s parts where it’s obvious the artist is just guessing, and it adds to the charm. The mild issues with anatomy and perspectives aren’t downright offensive. If you’re into the classics, it’s on the higher end of quality for the era.


Great casual watching for any gays out there.
