As far as I'm concerned there's an anime about pretty much everything if you look hard enough: diving, underwear design, insurance investigation (yup!) and don't even get me started on cooking. So there, picked titles with main characters directly involved and at least some focus on whatever they're doing for a living or a hobby or both.

The criteria here is simple: Anime released in 2001 or earlier, with under 25,000 MAL Members, and which I've rated a 6 or higher.

A rating of 6 counts for this second Obscurities list given the increased obscurity. A 6 is still an alright score. I've excluded anything that's particularly well-known, like Speed Racer or Voltron, despite both meeting my criteria.

It is perhaps worth noting that I rate things entirely on gut feeling. It's just, "I like that, that was good, it gets a 7.", that's the whole process. I can also find enjoyment in just about anything and there's very little that bothers me.

More anime dubbed by Ocean Productions Part 2.

This stack includes the remaining TV Shows as well as the OVA and specials they dubbed.

Before the likes of Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon conquering the kids in the west, it was actually Akira that opened the door and made people realize that the cartoons coming from Japan weren't what you would expect from Disney or your TV channels.
A huge flood of VHS tapes came showing animations with mature themes, absurd plots, and enough graphic sex and violence to make parents freak out... what a glorious time!
They don't make cartoons like this anymore.

This is a comprehensive list with stuff from very good to very trashy, but all in the same spirit.
Some early 00's also included.

Rules of this list :

- The plot has to revolve around the HITMAN JOB. Being chased by one counts. Better if the Hitman is the main character. It doesn't have to be always the main focus but just having a assassin arc isn't enough.

- No sci-fi, No super-power, No supernatural, No fantasy. It has to be REALISTIC.

- Only pure ACTION, blood, chase scenes, explosions, firefights, crime, revenge, mafia.

- Contemporary period.

- Using GUNS (Some exeptions are made, if the spirit is still close to the other criterias).

- Maximum 2 anime per franchise.

CRITERIA OF ADDITION:
- For a song to count as "foreign," it has to be sung in a language other than Japanese and written/composed by non-Japanese people (though I will count in Japanese covers of foreign songs)
- All listed pieces must be featured in the anime's original release (so, for example, Sydney Forest's songs used in the US Disney version of Kiki's Delivery Service will NOT be counted in)

Here to present actual Yakuza animes, and not these bs animes people tend to talk about and show off, here is Yakuza for the actual Yakuza, organized crime! all these other people only add the most cringe type of 'Yakuza' animes, literally! i mean, Househusband? Hinamatsuri? Akiba Maid Wars?? Twittering Birds?? thats all just erotics/BL or cringy type of ridicule comedy, or where Yakuza is nothing but a side-plot of the story with a main character or group is supposedly Yakuza/ex Yakuza, but the anime itself has nothing to do with Yakuza, None of this is what the average Organized Crime watcher is interested in.

I can get that people like those types, not bashing on anyone, but its also seemingly the only ones people know of at all, most anime enjoyers have no idea these exist, So with this stack of mine, im changing that.

The following titles ive added are the only actual Yakuza animes that exist to my knowledge. The only comedy in this list is Naniwa Yuukyouden, but ive included it because its a complete Yakuza comedy, its still crime, shootouts, gang stuff, but its also a comedy of pathetic and stupid individuals within the organization, but with all that said, Enjoy the list!

None of them remain unsubbed, i share the glory down below with all of you now! ive done all the unsubbed ones, im finished with my Yakuza subtitle project, enjoy them:D

First of all, sorry for my English, i can understand and read but writing isn't my forte (i can't even writing Portuguese well lol).

I want to make this list to help find new series to watch, instead of looking for more than 215 seasons.

My criteria were:

1. I don't have watch everything, but they were series i have faith or are good to understand;
2. I am not afraid to be wrong, so if someday i watch any anime in this list and find its bad or really doesn't matter at all, i will retire from this list;
3. If you know some anime that isn't in this list, you can tell me and i create a list called "lost tapes" and put there, but if i don't like it i won't been add;
4. I dont put remakes in this list or sequels, so animes like HxH 2011 or Urusei Yatsura 2022 won't appear in this list, but the OGs will;
5. Yes, this list HAVE SHIT ANIMES! (in my opinion, you don't know what is really good if don't watch some bad things) but don't worry, i just add bad things popular (like Platinum End, Hamestu Mars and etc); And last
6. My scores doesn't matter for this list, i won't put my personal opinion in this list, so there are animes i hate (like Sono Bisque Doll) but i know a lot of people like, so isn't fair i retire animes i don't like just for pride.

For this stack, I'll only count anime whose source material has finished and properties that have yet to receive a complete adaptation, which means series like the 2001 Hellsing TV show or the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist adaptation won't be included. If a series here later gets a complete adaptation, it may disappear from this stack as well.
