Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de

Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de also known as They Are My Noble Masters is an anime originally based from an adult visual novel game for PC. It was later released for the PS2 with the adult contents taken out. Finally, the anime version was released in early January of 2008.

They Are My Noble Masters (anime version at least) is safe to watch by any age group and both genders. In fact, I recommend anyone to watch it on their spare time. But ecchi-oriented viewers should be warned, the anime itself is pretty "innocent" so one might get disappointed if raising the ecchi ... standard too high. With that said, the anime is still very entertaining and should be watched.

Story:
At first, this may seem like another ordinary maid/butler/master series with random events to fill up each episode. But in actuality this anime has a deeper story to it as first hinted on episode 1.

Art:
Both the artwork of the anime (characters, settings, etc) should not be disappointing to most viewers ... afterall if the artwork is terrible, I doubt the visual novel will be very good selling.

Sound:
The only department that's a bit lacking in my opinion. There just wasn't any theme song that is particularly outstanding that I can recall (sadly the OP and ED were so-so as well) ... NOT terrible, they are just okay (they do fit some scene occasionally).

Character:
Another one of the strong point of the anime. Through each little event in the series, character relationships are developed and over time one will come to understand the characters more and more ...in the end, one will have a good understanding of each uniquely developed character.

Just to name an example:

Why Shinra is attached to Miyu but not Yume was explained half way through the story. Later on they were able to talk things through and strengthen the bonds between them.


Enjoyment etc
I definitely enjoyed the anime a lot more than I first expected. The fact that they have the right voice actor animating a particular role just made it even more entertaining (watch and you'll know what I mean). This will be glaringly obvious to anyone who have watched G Gundam.

A fun anime with an alternate harem style from most shows in the genre as it focuses on the butler work & adventures. Each episode basically focusses on one of the characters for a majority of the episode but the full cast will appear and contribute to the entertainment. It has some great references to other notable anime & moments of the time but if you don't know about them they might come across as boring & some simply overstay their welcome. The best of the show funny enough comes with the interactions between the MC & the Main Butler rather than with the girls, ... as it does not hold back on its absurdity. It also doesn't hold back in ways other Harem anime do.

Honestly my main gripe with the show was how insufferable a character Shinra was and how when she received focus, the entertainment value tanked due to her personality and actions. While she receives a few apologetic moments they are irrelevant when her whole character is grating since episode 1.

The shows comedy is hit or miss, mostly a miss with the exception of the main butler & absurd moments. Other than that it had needless drama & 'dark' moments during the final couple of episodes that simply didn’t need to exist, more so in the final two.

I think you should only watch it if you're needing another take on harem anime or are scratching the bottom of the barrel to kill time.

Your average ecchi harem rom-com anime that does nothing new other than parody other titles.

Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de/They Are My Noble Masters (or KimiAru for short) is a late 2000s anime based on the eroge of the same name. The premise is as follows: two siblings who are displaced by their abusive household relocate to the city and become household servants to the three daughters of the Kuonji family: Shinra, Miyu, and Yume.

Now, there's clearly a hint to a more serious story underneath the ecchi/harem elements so we should see it play out, right? We don't. The anime chooses to ignore ... this element until the final 2 episodes where it expects us to still care. Maybe I would if every episode preceding them DIDN'T prioritize harem hijinks over decent story progression.

Every character is the same archetype you've seen before in similar works in its field. Ren is your run-of-the-mill harem MC who's afraid of sexual advances. Mihato is the onee-sama (who also happens to have a brother complex). Shinra is the seductive ara-ara type. Miyu is the tsundere loli. Yume is the happy-go-lucky girl with big tits. All of the girls except Miyu have big tits, I just singled out Yume because she's my personal favorite if I had to choose one from this title.

For an ecchi, KimiAru is quite innocent. There ARE nipples shown, but it's a lot more restrained on the actual ecchi elements themselves, making the anime a lot less titillating. There's a scene with Yume where she forgot her panties on the way to school but when the camera cuts to her ass, it's censored with her face. If you're going to edit the buttocks of a girl in an ecchi, why bother having nudity in the first place?

The score is unremarkable. The OP & ED aren't anything noteworthy. The art is average. It reminds me of those hentai OVAs from the late 2000s, which, when you consider that this anime is an adaptation of an eroge, isn't surprising at all.

But onto the positives. If you look at the themes KimiAru falls under, you'll see that it's tagged as a parody. That's the closest this anime gets to having an identity. The first half of Episode 6 literally parodies Death Note! And not just that, but D.Gray-man, Sailor Moon and Shuffle! just to name a few more titles. Some of the parodied series have characters that are voiced by the same VAs in KimiAru, which adds on to the joke, and there's even a scene where they break the fourth wall and outright tell you to play the visual novel to understand the backstory of a certain character! I gotta respect that in full honesty!

In short, KimiAru is not a good anime. It's not a horrible one, it's just incredibly mediocre with parodies being the only thing that marginally separates it from other works in its field. It's a harmless watch, but if you want a slightly better ecchi harem rom-com surrounding butlers, watch Ladies versus Butlers! instead.
