Yao Shen Ji 2nd Season

I'd like to do kind of a reply review to the first review that's posted here, but still sticking to the review.
I'm actually very happy that they're showing things you didn't get to see in the book. It would of course be cool that its exactly like the novel or the comic but wouldn't it be dull to see the same thing over and over again?
Season 2 we get to learn new things while still following the storyline. Is that so bad? I had fun at least and i've also got some of my family hooked.
My rating is a bit over the top but I ... just really enjoyed the animation, the characters, voice acting, and the parts of the story you didn't get to see in the manga.

I was very excited to see a second season of Tales of Demons and Gods was airing but sadly it isn't more of the main story and just random bs instead.

If you have 170 chapters of the main story to cover why bother having an entire season dedicated to side stories? Given the horrible cgi this show is made entirely out of I think it is fair to assume anyone bothering to watch it is probably doing so because they have read and love the manhua and loved the main story, so having things like "oh no this person is in danger" in a side ... story is a total waste of time when you see them a hundred chapters later and completely ok in the manhua. Not to mention this means that the 100+ chapters that have yet to be covered will take even longer to actually get animated and given the fact this is a low budget web series that means we may never get a season 3 or see the real plot progress.

I'm glad to be getting a season 2 of this show, I just wish it mattered.

The series itself is still absolutely fantastic and one of the most interesting I have ever read. Also unlike similar action series it has a steady power progression and not constant random powerups pulled out of nowhere. To the credit of this season of side stories it is still up to par with the main series, just a bit forced.

I like the plot, at least partly, but the CGI is absolutely terrible—feels like watching a cheap video game. It would have looked so much better in 2D animation. Honestly, I’m just watching it to finish the series at this point. The excessive "fan service" makes it even harder to sit through, as it feels forced and distracting. Overall, I can’t find many redeeming qualities in this; it’s been a pretty underwhelming watch.

The gaslighting in these series feels completely unreal and over-the-top. The enemies, too, come across as childish and lack depth, which makes it hard to take them seriously. I’m watching it in translation, and it’s packed with references to Naruto—which, to be honest, was more annoying than nostalgic. It just feels like it’s trying too hard to ride on the coattails of a better series, rather than standing on its own.
