Moonrise

Both of these anime deal a lot in world building on other surfaces. IE the Moon or other planets. They also have a focus on advanced tech which they use to achieve their goals.  

Both of these anime take place in space for the most part & have really crazy plot twists. What I love most about these two series is they explore other worlds. Moonrise follows life on the Earth and Moon while Astra takes it a step farther and explore multiple planets on their way back to Earth. Both have intriguing stories with their own twists & have great character development & world building.  

Both of these series follow MCs who reunite with childhood friends who become the villains they must fight in the main story line. Both childhood friends are overprotective of the MC and try to destroy the MCs current group to protect the MC from being taken advantage of. Both MCs also have special abilities that they use to fight their childhood friends. Both anime also have unique weapon systems.
