Shining Star

they're both a korean 3d magical girl-ish show with a similar vibe, both are a good watch if you're looking for some dumb fun  

the plot line of these two idol shows are extremely similar, even the dance numbers (or whatever they're called) are similar smh 

both series are magical girl series aimed towards kids ( mostly little girls ) with similar character design, main character and tone, the magical girl transformations are also pretty similar ( although you could argue that shining star is not a magical girl show but whatever ) 

Shining Star is really similar to all of the Pretty Series in general, but I think it's fair to compare it to rainbow live. Both are idol shows around several idol groups. Both focus on character relationships more than an overarching plot. Compared to other idol shows these tend to be a bit darker, shining star is more focused on the tough idol industry whereas Rainbow Live tends to be mostly focused on family drama, but you'll definitely cry with both. Shining star is 3d animation even outside idol performances so if you're not used to it, it can be a bit jarring but it's still a great contender. Any Aikatsu and Pretty Series fan will probably like Shining Star and vice versa, since they have a lot of similarities if we desregard the animation style. read more
