Fruits Basket: The Final

Hundreds of years ago, the Chinese zodiac spirits and their god swore to stay together eternally. United by this promise, the possessed members of the Souma family shall always return to each other under any circumstances. Yet, when these bonds shackle them from freedom, it becomes an undesirable burden—a curse. As head of the clan, Akito is convinced that he shares a special connection with the other Soumas. While he desperately clings to this fantasy, the rest of the family remains isolated and suppressed by the fear of punishment.

Tooru Honda, who has grown attached to the Soumas, is determined to break the chains that bind them. Her companionship with the family and her friends encourages her to move forward with lifting the curse. However, due to confounding revelations, she struggles to find the tenacity to continue her endeavors. With time slowly withering away, Tooru contends with an uncertain future in hopes of reaching the tranquility that may lie beyond all this commotion.

'I want to get married!😔
I love this anime so much! Watching it makes me nostalgic for the days when I used to watch classic romantic series like Ao Haru Ride.
This season, we've been treated to a wonderful mix of sweet and bittersweet drama and comedy, and I'm really looking forward to the film.
The characters have developed really well; I really like who they've become.
I don't know why I put off watching this masterpiece for four years.
This anime has really made me think about getting married.
It’s beautiful and touching when a work of art evokes such strong emotions and a desire for something positive like ... marriage. It reminds us that art, both past and present, can stir our hearts in a powerful way.
A series like Ao Haru Ride can truly evoke nostalgia and capture the beauty of simple moments.
The blend of drama and comedy makes the anime so heartwarming. It's only natural to be moved by the love stories and wonder if you'll experience something similar in your own life.

Mixed Feelings

By far the best season of Fruit Baskets and was good but deserving of an 8.9+ rating is a joke. Before I get hate for this I want to say this anime is not bad but is not amazing either and all the expectations you might have, this won't live up to it.

This season really focused a lot on the characters and bonds with their loved ones and was very good compared to the others however many things are so forced into the characters nature, personality and making a lot of them to not act their age or act insanely edgy which gets justified by ... "ThE SoMa FAmiLy GaVE AlOT Of Trauma" just stfu. The thing that pisses me off the most is that everyone just is insanely selfish except Tohru because she has to be the heroine to save everyone for the happy ending yay except no because the author just throws logic out the window and while most people ignore this looking at this season objectively you notice many flaws.

I could go on and on about how many mistakes, inconsistencies and problems there are in the writing of the characters, their actions and ideologies but I really don't care enough about this anime to waste my time.

The point I'm trying to make is Fruit Baskets is good but that's it, it isn't some amazing anime with great development, plot twists and characters at best it's mediocre at most things. At least it's good in the romance genre but it's not even close to the peak of romance. Watch it if you want and you might find it fun but writing wise it's a disaster.

I can literally write a two-page rant on how Akito’s action can’t be justified just because your mother genuinely loved your father and not you. Sure, she has a horrible mom and shitty environment, but who isn’t in the fruits basket world? At least you're getting treated like a princess and loved by 13 cute animals. But people you are tormenting and stabbing got it worse. The worst part is no one ever held her accountable properly for her shitty act. They all went with that toxic flow in the name of bond. Even after the curse was over, did anyone even expressed a bit ... of anger on her for almost killing their lovable Tohru?

Fruits Basket - there’s just so much to like about this series. The amazing and big cast of characters with their deeply moving backstories (traumas and how they are heeled by our loving therapist, Tohru). There is Asian mythology, the grim sadness, an adorable friend circle with a pinch of romance…..Outro’s and momiji’s glow up are my personal fav.This series is like a deep dive into the lives of a bunch of cutesy characters with their own set of insecurities we all can connect with at some point.
Yuki and Kyo’s quest for connection and acceptance, their self-discovery journey, creates a symphony of emotions that strikes a personal chord.The one that bothers me the m̶o̶s̶t̶(a bit) is Tohru I know her character is intentionally designed to be a source of hope and empathy in the series. However, there are moments when she becomes so flawless that I can no longer relate to her. Her overwhelmingly positiveness and selfless nature is a bit unrealistic *for me* (i want a tohru in my life).
If I had seen this series two decades back, I might have given it a 10, but in 2024, I can’t help but question why it's still one of the highest rated anime.{of course, my views aren’t influenced solely by Akito’s redemption arc. I can’t be biased,i m not }
