- Similar setting - Similar sense of story-progression - High stakes and full off nauseating moments that retain their seriousness

Two anime set in Europe during medieval times (barring the difference between Northern and Eastern Europe, and about 450 years). Grounded, mostly realistic, with lots of tension and drama, and humane characters with actual struggles and similar backgrounds and motivations. They both portray a really good representation of medieval times in many aspects, and their visuals are fantastic.

Both have a narrative that spans across generations Both have impactful deaths that drive the story forwards Both have a theme of transferring ideas and knowledge. In To Your Eternity, this is in the form of memories and experiences of those he encounters. In Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, its scientific knowledge about heliocentrism being passed down through generations.

• Both are perfect psychological thriller for anyone who wants to watch something more mature and thought provoking. • None of the characters are safe in either of the series anyone can die.at any point of the story. • Both are made by Madhouse and their art and animation is very similar as well.

Two philosophical anime about the Earth but Bye Bye,Earth is much more action packed

They both have the same strange vibes to it (like you are in the show)

Political stories about people fighting for their beliefs
report Recommended by Junothree
This might not be the best recommendation, but i feel like they rae quit similare. The biggest similaritie is the Dark main theme and the somewhat supense drama, death is, compared to shonon, an important thing and not really taken light. If you compare them side by side they don't seem similare at all, especially the main topic, with Orb having a brutal fight between beliefers and scientists, compared to Monster a fight between a "Monster" and justice. But both anime have a deep psycological involvemt for the viewer and the character, this makes them somewhat equal deep and i think in this cases lies  read more

- forbidden research - relationships of science and religion - scientific ethics as one of themes - theme of necessary sacrifice Very different in vibe and execution, but similar in spirit. FMAB is much more action oriented and Orb is more philosophical, but both worth watching

Both are about finding truth of the world

Both are historical drama anime set in the renaissance period, pushing against stubborn people of that era Orb has male MC and more focused on science Arte has female MC and more focused on art

Orb feels highly inspired of Berserk; the medieval ambience, the existential questions, the corruption of the church, the inevitable violence, suffering and death. If you remove the immortal hero, the wars and the supernatural from Berserk, you're pretty much left with Orb. Highly recommended.

-Both worlds kill the questioning mind before it can bloom. -Every character who asks questions in both shows are branded as "dangerous" -Both of these stories treat the truth as a revolutionary act of sorts Same war, different battleground~

There's a similar philosophical vein in Kino no Tabi as in Orb, and there's in many ways a similar atmosphere with different settings, people and cities. There's also a similarly laidback pace coupled with very serious topics which creates a quite different and interesting watching experience.

They're both about the undying hope behind passing the baton.

Both talk about knowledge and how meaningful it can be, which is what makes it so comforting in a way. Both are really good at it. Dr. Stone is more dynamic, current, and comedic, while Chi is darker, more serious, and speaks from a past perspective. But despite these differences, both are really good anime. Watching Chi gave me the same feeling I had when watching Dr. Stone, it gave me goosebumps because the incredible nature of knowledge makes it something very interesting to watch and truly moving. Also, both have an incredibly good soundtrack.

Both are about astronomy and they look at the skies.

Astronomy. There are not many recent anime out there with astronomy theme, so if you like the theme check them out. Chi is more serious, emphasizes on historical discoveries and takes place in 15th century Poland while Insomnia is more lightweight, focuses more on photography and takes place in modern Japan.
