Danjo no Yuujou wa Seiritsu suru? (Iya, Shinai!!)

Yuu Natsume met Himari Inuzuka in middle school while trying to sell his accessories made with preserved flowers. When Yuu told her about his dream to open a shop to sell his creations, Himari decided to help him. Now, in their second year of high school, Yuu sells his accessories online thanks to Himari modeling and promoting them. As Yuu's best friend, Himari declares that if his ambition does not come to fruition by the time they turn thirty, she will have to marry him herself.

Then, Yuu meets Rin Enomoto, a girl wearing one of his first designs. Yuu and Rin met as children years ago, and she was his first love. Himari pushes them together, hoping to help Yuu out of his creative slump and find a wife for him in the process. For the first time, another person understands Yuu's talent and wants to be friends with him. As Rin and Yuu get closer, however, Himari struggles to keep her feelings for her best friend in check.

A very cute anime that will melt a lot of hearts, especially if you like slice of life/love animes.

Yuu and Himari met as a child, and their dream is to open an accessory store together. They also have a pledge to get married if they're still single by 30. But slowly, they can't help but fall in love with each other.

The premise is simple, but what really carries the show is HIMARI. What an adorable pundle of joy! Every time she's on screen, she steals the show. I think the main reason is her VA. It's like, this cute nasally voice that is unique and ... you can't help but love her. Himari's character is also the main catalyst of the show- as she is Yuu's motivation. That said, Himari's actions are not perfect, which is why I do like her. She's realistic- in a way. She gets jealous. She gets mad. She makes irrational decisions. But she can't help it because she does not know how to deal with her romantic feelings towards Yuu.

Speaking of Yuu- he's alright. He's honestly boring and typical of a young boy protagonist. He just goes along with things and tries to do the right thing. That said, he's bearable. But Himari definitely carries his character, despite him being an MC too. Yuu does struggle to confront his feelings too, but it feels like he never makes that choice- rather it's his support that forces him.

Rion Enomoto is the other girl- who is also part of Yuu's child hood memory. I do feel she was wasted in the show. Like, I thought she would have a bigger role, but she's kinda just there. There was an interesting concept to have Yuu choose between Enomoto and Himari, but the show completely skips it. Enomoto isn't even a threat- they kind of just make her sit at the corner while everything is happening. She shows up to provide cute moments, and that's it.

Rest of the support characters are good too. I love Shinji. He's the mastermind student who kinda gets things rolling when the two MC are at a stalemate. My favorite support is Himari's older brother Hibari. He's absolutely hilarious. The best wingman in the show as well.

Over all- you'd think a show about romance would have more intense relationship issues, but it's actually pretty chill. I mean, there are moments, but it's quickly solved and the show just moves on. That said, I did enjoy the ending as finally there's a win for both MC's.

Mixed Feelings

Pretext:
I don't get the hate centered around this Anime. Whether it be those who dislike it for its toxicity or for its plot holes, many people disliked this one. In my opinion, I thoroughly enjoyed the story centered around the duo. I found it cute and quite reflective of Asian relationships.

Main text:
Now, why did I rate this as a Mixed Feelings: the premise, the plot of this story is not made for everyone. This story shows how relationships between asians, east asians in particular, are built. Of course, everyone will develop their relationships by themselves, as it is rude to stereotypically identify a race. This ... anime shows competition between childhood friends and newer, gentler friends; it also shows the decisiveness and complex decisions between two teenagers. If you don't get the plotting, think of it as the concubines in the imperial palace who plot against each other, and many of those plots usually fail or are stupidly executed.

Story: 8/10. It is quite an interesting story; it is hard to model complex relationships that get resolved within a short season, yet there are plenty of plot holes that are shown within the story, and there are some pacing issues involved. It could be rated lower for others, as they dislike the toxic relationships between the triad or quadric.

Art/Animation: 7/10. The art is quite well done, having quite smooth lines and such. Personally, I don't really care if those lines were messy or not, but it gives off a plastic-ey feel, and there are moments where the animation is a bit clunky.

Overall: 7.5/10 I do hope you guys enjoy the story!

The only reason I didn't rate this 4 stars is that it had a really good, strong start in the first three episodes. After that, it just went downhill from there. Everything was contrived. The drama appeared out of nowhere based on nothing that could have easily all been argued away. The male lead started as a strong, decent guy, but then, for some reason, became the biggest wimp By Episode 4. This entire show misses one key point in storytelling: the beats should read like, this happens, therefore this happens, because this happens, therefore this happens. Instead, we get this happens, then this happens, ... then this happens, then this happens. The basics of writing were clearly lacking in this writer's education, and it shows in the writing and story beats. I don't think this author had an idea of what and where they wanted the story to go beyond the premise. That's probably why the first three episodes of this series is so good and why everything just seems to fall to pieces after that.
