Golden Kamuy: Saishuushou

Ex-convict Keiji Ueji appears in Sapporo, causing all the different factions to travel to the city in hopes of obtaining part of the map to the Ainu gold that is tattooed on his skin. At the same time, a figure who appears to be a copycat of Jack the Ripper terrorizes the streets of Sapporo. Saichi Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Yoshitake Shiraishi—joined by Fusatarou "Boutarou the Pirate" Oosawa and Vasily Pavlichenko—temporarily ally themselves with Toshizou Hijikata, as his faction's motives are somewhat less disturbing than those of Seventh Division's First Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi.

Asirpa attempts to collect all the information needed to tell apart the fake skins from the real ones, but she cannot decipher the map with certainty. Sugimoto swears never to part with Asirpa again, but the commotion around the serial killer allows for new betrayals and Tsurumi's plan for capturing Asirpa to advance. As the hunt for the gold nears its conclusion, the future of the Ainu rests in the hands of those who claim it first.

Preliminary (6/13 eps)

Golden Kamuy is back for its final season. With episode 6 now aired, the anime has now caught up to the 2 prescreening movies that aired in Japan back in October. More than likely, if you have watched up to S4, then you must really enjoy, or if not love, the series. The final season offers more of the same, if not more. Golden Kamuy has always had great voice and sound direction, and that continues in the final season. Though the animation direction is really well done, as it uses the most of its budget, and scenes really give maximum impact.

Of course, the Golden ... Kamuy anime is a bit more fast-paced than the manga, but that has been a consistent thing with the adaptation. Each season improves on the previous in terms of direction. So far Golden Kamuy has been adapted very well, and I am excited for what the final 7 episodes will bring us.

One thing to note before you start watching: I would recommend rewatching S3 and S4, as this season will really reward you with events that occurred in those two seasons.

Preliminary (3/13 eps)

This is my first time writing a review, sadly not for a good reason.
This review is based on how faithful it is to the manga, so I won't talk about the plot much.

Animation and art (7/10)
Golden Kamuy's animation quality is definitely improved from the previous season; some moments are lacking, but overall, it's decent.

Story adaptation (8/10)
Most of the content is pretty faithful to the original source

OST (3/10)
This is the reason why I wrote the review in the first place. Most of the soundtrack is very underwhelming, and that wasn't talking about most of the episode DIDN'T EVEN HAVE OST. Isn't the whole point of ... anime adaptation to make manga more engaging? This certainly made the enjoyment a lot less from others' seasons.

Overall, this season is disappointing; the other aspects are still fine, but the lack of Ost really hurts the show.
As a fan of this series, I still have fun watching the show, but I can't help but think... if there aren't any OST, why not just read the manga and listen to your favourite music.
