Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2

Following the faceless god Hitogami's advice seems to have worked wonders for Rudeus Greyrat. After enrolling into the University of Magic as he was told, Rudeus reunites with his childhood friend Sylphiette, who put a valiant effort into curing his condition. The two grow ever closer together and decide to host a wedding party, inviting the friends they have made over the years to announce and formalize their relationship.

For all his recent blessings, however, Rudeus' troubles are far from over. The research he is helping Shizuka Nanahoshi conduct hits a bottleneck, sending her into a deep slump much like he experienced in his previous life. Furthermore, a letter from his father, Paul, brings complications to Rudeus' relationships, and Sylphiette still knows next to nothing about his real background. In the face of these issues, Rudeus will have to apply the lessons he has learned in this new world to navigate through the challenges that come with living a life to its fullest.

This show is good BECAUSE the main character is a piece of shit.

I have seen a lot of controversial commentary on this show starting with season 1 all the way up until now and understandably so. From my perspective however there is a crucial disconnect between the viewers of the show and the message that is attempting to be portrayed. Rudeus is reincarnated in season one after living his life as a disgusting degenerate. Now that he is in a new world he retains all of his prior memories and his character is still the same as he was but he has been giving ... a fresh chance to try to live a better life. Rudeus throughout the narrative consistently looks back on how he was before reincarnation and it is EXTREMELY clear that he doesnt think that he is perfect in any sort of way. He is SUPPOSED to be gross, he is written to seem repulsive, but he is also a clear example of something thats important to know even in our own lives. That change is possible and you dont need to stay as you are. Everyone makes mistakes although most not as severe as what Rudeus has done however it is a clear message that change and improvement is possible for anyone which is something I can personally appreciate.

If we stripped away the fact that Rudeus is a degenerate and he became a perfect person like so many of the viewers seem to want we would be left with just another generic isekai power fantasy. This show is about self improvement, growth, and learning how to form relationships with others.

Overall I give S2 PT.2 an 8/10

It does a very good job of presenting the aforementioned themes and Rudeus grows and shoulders a lot more responsibility in this season in particular then in the past. Having to decide between going to save his mother and supporting his new family. Especially after the Hydra fight there is some very interesting self discovery which I personally felt was some of the best writing we have seen thus far.

Mixed Feelings

I liked it more, but I have some doubts... I'm writing about the entire second season.

It feels like Rudeus is following a predetermined path. As if fate has decreed it—he's happy here, and suffering there. The narrative's mood fluctuates along some kind of sine wave. It all starts in the village, where everything is joyful, happy, and good, then, bam, a great catastrophe, everyone is scattered, Eris abandoned him (a genius move, damn it), a depressed Rudeus tries to forget by going in search of his mother, and along the way he meets a group of adventurers, something is brewing with Sara, but then, bam, ... he nearly kills himself, and so do we. Then he goes to Ranoa, where the dark tone of events changes to a positive life at the magic academy. There's Sylphy as Fitz, there are his friends, there's his home with his (angelic) wife and second (beloved) wife, and his sisters to boot. But at the "right" moment, everything goes to hell again. If the script demands that Rudeus suffer, then he will. And thoroughly so – Paulo is dead, Zenith has amnesia, and he himself lost an arm. It's fckng crazy. The way he was tossed around at the start like shit floating down a river, it just keeps going. Stupid rollercoaster. What the hell? It seems like Rudeus's life consists only of ups and downs, and there's no other way. And it's honestly getting on my nerves. Fck, this crap practically cancels out all the happy moments we've had. How the hell am i supposed to take all this when more crap is lurking around the corner?

Time skips, time skips never change... The entire plot unfolds in fits and starts, the narrative pacing is choppy, completely out of sync. Before you can really get into it, accept it, or comprehend one thing, they're already shoving something else in. Just selected moments from his biography. Where's the rest? The narrative needs to flow more smoothly. Rudeus spent a whole year unaware of Sylphy, but for me, a month would have passed. And it's like that everywhere, which does not at all enhance the narrative.

That one s2 ep proves mc's still the same horny reincarnated creep.


They had one job: make Paul’s death hit hard and let the audience sit with it. Instead, what do we get? Rudeus can’t even keep it in his pants for 24 hours. Dude literally buries his dad and immediately goes, “time to smash the teacher.” Pathetic.



If anything, this episode proves this show can’t escape its own degeneracy. The second things get heavy, it dives straight back into smut like a junkie who can’t quit. And the worst part? Some fans actually defend ... it like it’s “deep.” No... it’s horny trash dressed up as fantasy

Decent world building and plot by these qualities gets subverted by the mc's degenerate pdf personality who gets aroused by just being around lil children. Even in his past lyf he was a pathetic fatass pdf loser who freaking touched himself to sum unpixeled l*li h*ntai on the DAY OF HIS PARENTS FUNERAL. The fandom just watches the show for its fanservice, don't waste ur time
