Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun Part 2

'After-School Hanako-kun Part 2 is the second series of specials in-between season. Just like the first series, it was aired during Halloween. In this case, it's for the 2024 Halloween. It also functions as a lead-up to the second season of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun.

In contrast to the first series of specials, I like this one better. It has more emphasis on being a slice of life, thanks to the extensive participation of the Mokke, except for one chapter that is fantasy and belongs to a parallel dimension.

What I like about this series is that it seems that the humour is stronger and more enjoyable. That's why ... I'm rating this a 6, which is higher than the usual rating of 5 that I rated the first season and the first series of specials.

Well this was certainly a step up from part 1! While still an omake-like series of short episodes, these were focused more on the characters themselves unlike the first part. Yeah there's mokke but they're not the exclusionary focus this time (which was the most aggravating thing and led to a Mixed review last time). Not canon by any means but still as enjoyable as watching the real deal.

Still as gorgeous of an art style like the past episodes! Has a lot more character interactions and fun bits that had me laughing. I can't wait to see this cast again come season 2.

One thing I noted about this collection was, oddly enough, marketability. Hear me out.

I visited Japan earlier this year and not one but two of the episodes of this OVA were made specifically for a pop up event. The ghost hotel and the cafe. Both used for seasonal cafe pop ups in tokyo.

They were also heavily featured for merch.

The shorts themselves were... fine... The characters didn't really act like themselves so it lowers the score but for anyone looking for a morsel to tide them over, it exists at the very least.
