Wind Breaker Season 2

Ever since Haruka Sakura joined Furin High School, where its students call themselves Bofurin and protect the town of Makochi, he has gained new friends despite his initial skepticism. Now starting to learn how to fight alongside his classmates and slowly growing out of his solitary past, Sakura has become the grade captain of the first-years.

Sakura's skills are put to the test when he and his classmates are faced with KEEL—a delinquent group known for its ruthless violence and coercion. While KEEL seems to be another rowdy group at first glance, their sudden appearance and strength in numbers might just be hiding a greater evil behind it. With all the odds against the Bofurin members, Sakura must accept that recognizing his shortcomings and receiving help from his upperclassmen will be necessary to preserve the peace in Makochi.

I was skeptical about WindBreaker at first, but as someone who's current on the manga, I can say, my goodness, this manga and especially the story are good. Haruka as the MC is not only perfect for this story, but fits perfectly into the WindBreakers district. His growth into the leadership role, despite a lot of obstacles and constantly having to confront his past, is simply fantastic. Every moment when he seems happy or even laughs for a moment is a moment of joy for me, especially for someone who has just as much trouble making friends and is often alone. He is supported by ... fantastic characters like Umemiya, Kotoha, Nirei, Suo, Kaji, etc., who always help him back if he suffers a setback, give him help and advice, and stand by him. You can also really see how the world grows after each arc. Satoru Nii's vision for the characters and the world becomes more and more apparent. What I can't praise enough is the first arc after the anime, where everything from seasons 1 and 2 comes together and culminates in a damn strong antagonist in Endo, who embodies the other side of Haruka and thinks like one. The film has good fights, not just physical but also psychological, and characters you can not only empathize with, but identify with.

Mixed Feelings

Fight choreography is a 9/10 the rest of the show is a 4 or 5/10.

Onto the good the bad and the meh.

The good

Fight choreography is still great.... that's about it. It also had a good support character arc that doesn't involve fights, it is worthy of a better anime.

The meh

... The fight sequences pacing was all over the place, ten minutes of flash backs, monologs, and character development breaking up a fight sequence is frustrating.

The good character arc referenced above was out of place in the show. It told a story worth telling, but would have been better done in another Anime.
The bad


The pacing in general was all over the place, season 1 was a tournament Arc with a few episode setting the stage and a couple episodes dealing with the aftermath. Season 2 had some arcs rush other ones last 2 episodes longer than needed. The fights were also to drawn out to be enjoyable.

I came for the fights in Season 1, I stayed for the fights in Season 1, and was happy I stayed for them. The muddling character development was an acceptable price for admission.

Season 2 I came for the fights... stayed because I was a masochist dreaming that the fights would be as good as Season 1 and was left continually disappointed.

Would I recommend it?

I would still recommend the fight scenes, but you're better off watching them on YouTube and avoiding the fat that doesn't belong in the show if that's what you came for. If you want something more than fight scenes you should give it a shot. The one character arc is worthy of a better show maybe you will disagree and thinks it's worthy of Windbreaker. In the meantime I'm going to tend my shrine and mourn for my brawler Shonen that is no more.

Honestly this is one of the worst 2nd seasons to a somewhat decent anime, I've ever seen. This anime literally got nowhere. Tsubaki is one of the worst characters to be introduced. I skipped all of Tsubaki's dialogue because it was just so cringe. I also completely skipped the episode with the old man and Tsubaki. They started with a decent first season and literally ruined it. Over the top emotional junk, dialogue that was probably written by someone in grade school..... I can only hope the next season will be better, but they'll probably screw that up as well.
