Necronomico no Cosmic Horror Show

I felt like I was having déjà vu multiple times watching the first episode of Cosmic Horror Show because I'd just watched Sea In A Box the night before. Both are about people entering a vr world that is connected is some way to the gods from the Lovecraft mythos. 

The story makes people play games and dredge all kind of darkness in their heart out to the open. Though necronomico seems less about discussing human nature atp (I'm at ep 5). In that line, necronomico kinda reminds me of popular kdrama Squid Game. 

Female MC faces a terrifying surreal horror environment in an attempt to save her precious childhood friend. Lots of interesting and ironic dialogue, as well as comedic social commentary. 

While the shows are quite different in genre (Nyaruko is a harem, while Necronomico is a battle royale), both shows stand out for their blending of Lovecraftian mythos with the quirky and colorful moe comedic horror anime storytelling. Both shows also have significant elements of grotesque space science fiction, with the MC's sudden encounter becoming one of the central themes of the story.
