Synopsis

With a smirk, Oota disregards his single-digit test scores and searches for a new source of amusement. He is soon captivated by his classmate Kashiwada, a mysterious student who consistently wears a blank face. Oota conspires to break her placid demeanor through scares and mischievous schemes, though his tactics always seem to backfire.

Oota is known as the class clown and is constantly disciplined by his teacher, who claims "his face gives it away." To no fault of his own, he lacks control of his emotions and facial expressions. Kashiwada, on the other hand, seems perpetually emotionless and unreadable—no one knows what she is thinking!

Oota and Kashiwada are complete opposites, but that does not stop a unique relationship from developing between them. As they realize their feelings for each other, it raises an important question: do opposites really attract?

Watching this anime feels like being at home. The atmosphere is cute, calm, and sometimes funny — it’s the kind of anime that makes you smile without trying too hard.

I really like Kashiwada’s character and her relationship with Oota. Even though she doesn’t show much emotion, you can feel the warmth between them. Their interactions are simple but full of charm, and I enjoy how their personalities balance each other out.

The art style fits the tone of the show perfectly — it’s not overly detailed, but it’s soft and pleasant to look at. It gives the anime a cozy feeling that matches its story.

"Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Oota-kun" is a very simple little show, each episode being cut into smaller segments that tell amusing little stories about the blossoming romantic life of the two main characters.

The show is highly defined by a "puppy love" style vibe, with very little meaningful conflict actually occurring at any given point. Instead, the show simply focuses on the kuudere-esc girl Kashiwada and how she has fallen in love with the highly emotional and expressive boy Oota, as a result of him showering her in attention; attention that she lacks due to her inexpressiveness alienating most other people.

Thus, ...

I'm not entirely sure why I'm still watching this anime, maybe it's because I don't completely hate it, but I'm also not finding it to be that good of an anime. Out of all the seasonal anime I'm watching there's only 3 of them that I like, that being Spy x Family s3, My Awkward Senpai and Mechanical Marie. Inexpressive Kashiwada has been a very meh anime to me.

A basic summery is there's a girl called Kashiwada and she doesn't tend to show emotion at all. Even if she's happy, sad, angry or even confused she pretty much always has a blank expression on ...
