B. (starts with Utena) I've only seen Madoka Magica and I want to learn more about the genre, but idk if I'm ready for kids' shows.
If at the end you're ready to explore the mahou shoujo genre in full force, jump to Category A.

A. (starts with Precure) I like cute stuff and the magical girls aesthetic, and I can actually handle stuff aimed at little girls.
If at the end this isn't enough for you, congrats, you're into mahou shoujo and you should start doing your own research.

I was watching Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete and decided I should make a list of all ecchi magical girl anime so I did some research and made this.

Keep in mind I haven't seen most of these shows so if there's a show that doesn't belong or if I've missed one that would fit here feel free to tell me.

PG-13 (for teenagers who are 13 years old onwards) rated magical girl anime : Part 1 (1973 – 2019)

Anime that are NOT available to watch outside of Japan LEGALLY through streaming services.
Stack made in collaboration with ReSeinen. The criteria for addition are found in the former three parts. But a TLDR:

- Only Japanese anime.
- Anime from 2000 onwards.
- Must appear as unavailable both in TheStreamable and LiveChart.me
- Must not be a purchase-only anime.
- No kids demographic.
- It must NOT be available to stream OUTSIDE of Japan.
- Official YouTube (or similar) uploads, free streaming services (Pluto TV, Plex, Tubi) and official websites available OUTSIDE Japan count as legal streaming services, in these cases it doesn't get added to the stack.
- Must not be lost media (Example, Kick Off 2002)
- If the anime gets licensed for streaming, it gets removed from the stacks.
- Not mandatory, but the anime should be preferably done by a relevant studio.
- It is recommended that the anime has full-length episodes, that is, 20 minutes or more.

Note: Since Anime Onegai closed but their owners (REMOW) are still operating, there's the possibility some of these anime might become available through the It's Anime channel or another streaming service since they still probably hold most of the licences. While they only operated in Latin America, several anime of this part were only on that streaming site.

Note 2: Many of the Anime Onegai anime were moved to Amazon Prime Video through a new service called KoiPlay.

Note 3: For a tentative part 6: Natsuiro Kiseki would be added.

Rules
1. No Magical Girlfriend shows (Except for Valkyrie and Dokuro-chan)
2. No International shows (MAL hosts Chinese and Korean productions but in order to save space, only Japanese shows will be included. I may make an international version in the future)
3. No regular fantasy with a female protagonist (ie. My Next Life as a Villainess and Frieren. Shows in a fantasy world with MG like tropes like Rayearth and Leviathan are fine)
4. ABSOLUTELY NO HENTAI! (While Magical Canan began as a Hentai OVA, the TV series version suitable for general audiences will appear. Ecchi like Cutie Honey and Moetan are fine though due to not showing explicit sex/pornographic material)
5. In order to save room, only the first installment of each show will appear. (In terms of Precure, only Futari wa will appear as a representation for the franchise as a whole.)
