Finally got to see Pacific Rim. Really entertaining movie, with tons of mecha cliches. It mostly reminded me of a Dai-Guard x Godannar x Getter Robo Arc mix.

Pacific Rim looked a lot like Godannar to me even before I watched the movie. Various countries having their mech piloted by two pilots, main heroine rescued by a pilot, main guy losing his co-pilot five years before the story started etc. The mechs worked a lot like in Dai-Guard. While they are like Super Robots, they tried to portray their movements more "real". And the whole warp thing in the ocean is so Getter Robo Arc.

And yeah, people comparing Pacific Rim and Evangelion are idiots.
