The beginning of this anime consisted of filler-ish eps that were really humorous, especially the one on Hijikata's haikus! XD
But towards the end it gained serious vibes. I would have liked PMK more if the transition wasn't so abrupt.

I have to say... my opinion might be different from anyone else's, but I believe Yoshida didn't kill young Tetsu because-- for the simple fact-- that he liked having that psychological torment to hold over someone.

Or perhaps, he paid no mind to Tetsu since he knew he wouldn't do any harm to him... in respect, calling him a "weakling". Therefore, Tetsu (now 15) feels he HAS to become a monster in order to kill the "monster" that murdered his father and mother.

This is my opinion, but perhaps I'm right? I'm not sure. Tell me what you think.

Hm... I´ve read the Imon Shisengumi Peacemaker(that covers the anime) and the more you read, more you think it wasn't him who killed Tetsu's parents. If that's so, he wouldn't have a reason to kill Tetsu anyway...
I would need the manga sequel to to know if it's true or not. (if someone had read PMK, please, no spoilers)

Someone had the same feeling watching the anime?

Just a personal thought, anyway...

I watched the first 4 episodes and found it to be generic and unfunny, I want a real samurai series, not this shonen jump lame fest that I was seeing.

I haven't read the manga yet, but in the anime when Tetsu asked about his parents' death in episode 23, Yoshida asked "What are you talking about?" didn't he? I was really confused. At that moment, I thought that maybe Hijikata killed Tetsu's parents (Hijikata does resemble Yoshida), but that's not very likely...I don't think.
