Even Ginko got petrified for once. That was new, somewhat unexpected, exciting and kinda terrifying.

The mighty hunter nearly got hunted there. Showed how it doesn't take long for tables to be turned. Staying humble is important. Never get too proud even if you have power.

Another brilliant episode. Love how this show actually shows a lesson instead of just teaching it.

I must praise the atmosphere and visual direction like everyone else. And as usual the plots are extremely tightly written, I've always contended that short story writing is an incredible skill to have

Mushi really can differ up to anything, a mark that gives you can ability; genetics to be precise. Well, I agree with Ginko, that guy truly was the "King" of the beasts. Ginko's first encounter straight up petrified him, that guy felt insanely malicious.

Intriguing narration, this time it is the curiosity that springs from the bizarre of what is told to make interesting the vision of the episode, which is not at all tearful. As usual there is a basic message in what is narrated, a catchy ending. Ginko returns to the spotlight with full marks.

So, what I got from this episode is:
1. Mushishi has a time set at near the Meiji era (1868-1912), as a weapon was used by the hunters.
2. Their father is still alive, he became the most terrifying creature in the mountain, because at the ending it was hinted that even the wildest animal feeling terrified by the unseen creature.
Overall I think this is the darkest Mushishi episode ever.

hoooo big spook episode this time around, got me shivers at certain scenes won't lie.
Jeeez this episode gave me major PTSD of camps i did with the army cadet force, night exercises where we would navigate the pitch black forests in complete silence would be scary and wild. I remember one time when we started our exercise it was relatively near the coast, when it started pissing down with rain. We pushed through the 5km walk to designated rondayvoo point, but a long the way it was already pitchblack, with cold wind being hurled at your face from the coast, along with rain that felt like hail you could barely see the other person ahead of you yet alone keep your footing on the uneven surface. All you could do really was hold tight onto your rifle while praying you were still following someone and watch your footing. It was wild, but weirdly fun for someone like me.

I guess the rotten effect will only trigger when Tatsu touch the living being, in that case he could just lure the animal and rely on someone else to kill the living being so that it doesn't rot.

Everything about this episode was perfect to the vibe it wanted to portray.
The yellow-tone that gives the 'decay' aesthetic to everything, the forest that feels oppressive and claustrophobic, the way Ginko says that human is at the top of the food chain with the shadow of a person standing there, literally everything was perfect.

But also the theme of the episode was also well done, human might be at the top of the food chain but still isn't above nature or even Mushi. But our arrogance is what truly will be the downfall one day. Also how even Ginko felt fear at the end because of being in a forest surrounded by wild animals is such a cool thing to see.

To me personally, this episode implicitly guides us to have more humility, as pride might consume you. Ginko has reminded Tatsu so many times that the latter has to be alert at night by bringing lantern to illuminate the dark. Tatsu definitely learned his lesson hardly after he's shot by the villagers, bcs they were unable to see him. Only animals would walk in darkness. The change from the full moon to crescent moon also alluded this event too.

It's a huge irony when Tatsu proudly told Ginko that the only ones around the day are birds that can't see too well at night, and small birds aren't much of a challenge, yet they are the exact thing devouring Tatsu's hand and symbolize the fear itself.

The decayed color pallet was fantastic. Green and yellow and brown, a sickly yet beautiful rot.
