Why did the king & the master star reader trust Shuga so much?

I really enjoyed Moribito tremendously, but there is still one thing that bugged me even after I have finished it. Why did the king & the master star reader trust Shuga so much? Especially when Shuga said the official history of the kingdom was wrong all along. They just agreed with it. I thought they would be at least hesitant to trust him about that. Could someone explain this to me?

I believe why Shuga was trusted so much was that what would he had gained if he had lied to the Emperor and the Master Star Reader. It was obvious in the show that Shuga cared deeply for Chagum and wished for his safety. Also that he was granted a very special permission to read that texts that only the Master Star Reader had access to (Before very late into the show). As for the Emperor I believed that he solely trusted Shuga because the Master Star Reader recommended Shuga to join their "Circle" earlier in the show; and if Shuga performed poorly it would reflect onto the Master Star Reader hence the first sentence. This is what I believed in why Shuga was trusted so much by the Emperor and the Master Star Reader.

Hope you get this even though it's been a year.
