Whenever people ask me for my movie tastes, I often just refer them to my Criticker profile;

http://www.criticker.com/profile/ShogunRua/

It's the easiest way to convey that information, particularly if one clicks on full rankings;

Focus- Post your movie-watching log, if you have one.

I use Letterboxd, and I think there are some other members of this club who do too.

http://letterboxd.com/ghadius/

The site has a nice community, even if there's not much space to communicate.

I too use Letterboxd - http://letterboxd.com/simo000/

I also use RateYourMusic - https://rateyourmusic.com/~BigSimo

I used to use Criticker but having three seemed pointless - though Criticker is still a great alternative to the above.

I remember a topic about Letterbox on the Criticker forums discussing the pros and cons of each;

http://www.criticker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4343

If nothing else, I would hate ranking on a 5 star scale. Also, using half stars is retarded; if you're using half-stars on a 0.5-5 scale, it's exactly equivalent to a 1-10 scale.

That aside, it's still good for getting a general gist of one's tastes.

It's true that there's not difference in rating on a five star scale with half stars and a 1-10 scale, but it's not something that bothers me at all. It works for me because I put very, very little stock in numerical scores; I've always felt it matters way more what one has to say about a movie than what number you assign it. Of course, Criticker is probably a little better if you're just trying to give someone a cursory idea of your tastes.

You are ShogunRua??

Whoa, you are quite a celebrity in the Criticker forums. I lurk them quite often, and I think I've talked with you a few times (anime related stuff and such) in there. Some argument about the decline of anime, I was quite a noob then so I probably didn't manage to make any logical points. Whatever, glad to see you there.

This is my Criticker, by the way:
http://www.criticker.com/profile/jal90/

And in my profile there's my FilmAffinity account link:
http://www.filmaffinity.com/en/userratings.php?user_id=540682
which is the one I use more regularly. Being a site more specific for Spanish-language users I guess this won't be very useful to you guys but it's the most complete and updated list I have.

I have an IMDb as well, but I think it's absurd to share it. I just rate there for fun, but IMDb as a log is... you know, shit. Pretty much pointless. Currently I'm using it to update my Letterboxd account:
http://letterboxd.com/ghibliano/
which will take a long time because I haven't got used to this site, and only voted on random bursts. Now that I am trying to add and change ratings from the beginning, it's a kind of hard and repetitive work, I'm still in 2011. Once I'm up to date, I plan to use it more regularly (specially the lists, the diary is a pretty useless tool to me and quite boring to manage), but my primary sources will keep being FilmAffinity and Criticker.

Indeed! Amusingly, I first learned about and signed on to Criticker through another MAL user.

Not sure if that's a good thing!

Thanks, and I remember that topic well.

I see you have 550 more films on Filmaffinity than you do do on Criticker. What accounts for that disparity? Just being more active on one site, differences in the databases, or a combination of the two?

Quite simple. FilmAffinity allows voting TV-series which alone makes a big difference. On the other hand, while Criticker's database is bigger nowadays, it depends on IMDb. And IMDb, being the largest database and all, still has some missing, and perhaps more importantly, many incomplete entries. There have been various instances of entries I didn't add to Criticker because the information was incomplete and I couldn't find other reliable sources (for instance I tried to add Majid Majidi's Baduk with the IMDb data and a Wikipedia synopsis and it seems it got rejected). So in the end it is more of how the databases don't overlap completely than the actual amount of content.

I believe that's the first instance I have ever heard of a Criticker film submission being rejected. Just checked my own list, and I have added 51 pictures, all without trouble. I know there are certain movies they're missing as they're unlisted on IMDB, but that's a reasonable criteria.

Whether TV series should be included or not has been a major issue on Criticker for years now, (mpowell, who runs the site, has mentioned it's in their plans, but that was at least a year ago) and they're inconsistent on that point, as certain episodic TV specials/installments, OVAs (FLCL comes to mind), and even PPVs (somehow, pro wrestling counts, but not UFC or boxing!) are all included.
