| The novel is aimed at children and there's basically a lot of anime original stuff and they borrowed some things from other books in the series as well. Long time ago I read it, so from what I remember the stuck in the palace prince is basically an antagonist, no research subplot no flamethrower spears, a lot of the final part of the anime series is completely original the book is a much shorter story/faster pace. I would say they're almost completely different stories aside from the two protagonists and intro. But if you read the first novel it wouldn't add anything new. |
