Funny how Aoi Gengo tells his son to accept his fate and criticizes him of fighting against it when he himself is doing the same for the fate of mankind.

Kinda feel bad for Ryuuichi, really.

Well, it lost some of its shock value with so many dark chapters recently. That's probably why this triple entendre bad pun flashed in my mind after reading it.

At least he went out... with a bang.

You really can't blame Ryuuichi for what he did.

But for Gengo to manipulate his life to the point that Ryuuichi's hate extended to Kazuha.

Wow.. just wow, Gengo doesn't fucking deserve to have children.Just how many people had their lives destroyed for his cause?

Not saying that saving humanity is bad thing to do, can't he think of a more better approach? For fuck's sake he is probably the most intelligent human being on Earth and what did he do to persuade his own son who apparently is a "key" to saving humanity for his cooperation?

By brainwashing his daughter and destroying his fucking family. Like that is the most normal way to persuade someone. And he keeps yapping to Ryuuichi who was almost mentally broken and knew he got played(and I mean GOT PLAYED REALLY HARD) about how he can't fight against fate and destiny and that he is not meant to live a normal life.

Looking from the outside of course you would want to cooperate with Gengo.
His offer to you was you get to be a superhero(somewhat) and you get to be around hot pandora chicks whom you have your own father's permission to screw and get laid with.

But put yourself in Ryuuichi's god damned shoes.
Your dad started with brainwashing your daughter, your daughter keeps going on about how her mom is different that you and her are the same, your wife is accepting of the fact that your daughter might not be normal but still decides to love her all the same but she wants another child. Dad sends in a surrogate mother under a pretense that she is your long lost "sister". Unborn child turns out not normal(surprise!) and has to be transferred to the womb of your "sister". Slowly you see your lovely wife sink into depression and insanity to the point that she was going to kill her own son and was killed by your own daughter.

Given those facts, even I would have lost the desire to live.

And lets talk about Orie for a bit. IMO, she is my favorite character in this arc.

By no means is Orie unattractive, definitely not the most attractive person in the manga given the amount of other attractive girls around, but even by those standards Orie was still a very lovely lady. A loving wife and a mother who had unconditional(And I mean UNCONDITIONAL) love for her kids.

I know the last sentence was contradicting since she tried to kill Kazuya, but look what she did after she was mortally wounded by her OWN DAUGHTER.

She apologized, she fucking apologized. For something she didn't have any control over. She apologized that she could be the same as Kazuha and the rest of the family and how she can't be the best mom she could be for her. And she told her to protect her brother which showed that she truly loved Kazuya. She even offered words of comfort to Kazuha as a spirit and told her she did nothing wrong.

Orie is the real fucking MVP this arc.

I won't talk about Kazuya since he is merely an infant this arc but fuck do I hate him now.

And theres Kazuha, still a mere child and couldn't be held responsible for her actions.

I know I said Gengo brainwashed her, but that was in Ryuuichi's perspective.

But for a smart girl, why did she tried to press on that his father was the same as her(the pandora, stigmatic body etc) and even shunned her own mother. She even uttered insensitive words to her very own mother which was "its not your fault you can't do some things". And mind you her mother wasn't an abusive one nor did I ever think that Orie mistreated her. In fact, her mother loved her like any good mother did.

But like a wise old saying, You don't know what you have till its gone.
True enough, she lost a mother, one that continued to love her and her brother unconditionally till the very last breath.

And speaking of her killing her own mother, first of all, she could have just subdued her, no need for fatal force was it? She's a pandora for fuck's sake. By no means Orie would've had the ability to force Kazuha to kill her.

For the love of me, I can't imagine how fucked up situation can be to treat my own mother how Kazuha did her mom. The thought of it just makes me cringe.

Im about to go ahead and rant about Cassandra, but I'll leave that story for a another day.

But fuck, Cassandra just found her way to my hate list.

Sorry for the long rant.

Here's a bunch of potatoes to make up for it

I feel bad for her tho. She did nothing wrong

Her pussy was too good he could die happy.

Imo...It's true that what Gengo did was F***ed up but he found a way to save humanity. Why not use it? The only thing he did wrong imo is not raising up Ryuuichi with the idea that he shoulders humanity's fate on his shoulder.

If he build the idea up in his head since childhood this shit wouldn't have happened. U can't just drop a bomb shell on ur already adult normal life grown up son like that. Ofc he'd totally be in denial esp after all the shit that happened

I think Gengo was more or less surprised by Kazuha, Ryuuichi probably didn't show the aversion to the extent she to his non-biological mother. Gengo also seems to be rather wary of her growth too. So I doubt he's actually brainwashing her, just telling her the truth due to not being able to hide it from her. It's probably related to female transcendent beings and male ones.

Ryuuichi knew about the legendary pandora from the get-go so like Gengo said he probably has been ignoring reality than Gengo jumping the gun on him. Due to Kuzaha he probably wanted to avoid his son's family breaking apart more because of Kazuya. Hence all the warnings, etc.

Poor Cassandra, though I wonder if a child was born from the rape.

This flashback was given the crazy School Days treatment. In the end, you hate everyone in this flashback because the show their horrendous side to us. Gengou looked like he cared, so much so that he wanted him to have a fleeting moment of a normal life. Still gengo should have done better to let ryuuichi's aversion to the whole destiny slowly be removed. There were always choices in which all four members of the family could be well or at least no more deaths occuring, yet the author chose the most tragic route.

Cassandra being a mute here was not helpful, Kuzuha being a flat up bitch for not only choosing to stab her own mother but also speaking out of term without tact to everyone in the family. Ryuuichi choosing to let his despair drown him to the point he rapes Cassandra and waits till kuzuha wakes up to kill himself is so brutal that I bet the next chapter is going to show us how kuzuha slow descent into weird mentality will be abruptly sealed now. Having those words he said on her mind most like will turn her into a very serious person and most likely a very cold being. If any pics of her and chiffon's battle tells us, she must have looked at everyone including pandoras themselves as ants. I hope now that casandra doesn't die against that monster just to save the silly ryuuichi.

Omg, these last few chapters have kinda destroyed me. I have such mixed feelings about some of them now but it's not a bad thing. For one, breaking the air of perfection around Kazuha by showing how fucked up she was as a child was sobering and showing just how annoying Kazuya was when he was a baby puts a few things in perspective.
The person I feel no animosity towards though is Cassandra. When she first showed up, I wasn't sure how I felt about her and after all the strange things she did, I was wary of her but after this arc, I just feel for her. She's had practically no choice of her own, she's disabled, she's had the child latched onto her ripped away from her and she doesn't know how to deal with the trauma. I was already feeling bad for her when Orie was killed but finding out that she was raped by the man she was prepared to give herself to should he accept her is just...sad.

And the ending is great I knew this will happen! But I didn't know he will rape Cassandra ;o or is it not rape as she wanted it from the start?
or she didn't want it but accepted as she knew it is for the good of mankind? :D

It is all a matter of point of view. Others may see Gengo as a cruel man who ruined his sons life(although the children would have been weird anyway considering his stigmatic body) by trying to make him the leader of some new humanity etc.

But Gengo saw himself as gentle enough to at least give him some years of normal life until the time for his duty comes instead of raising him like a brainwashed robot meant for a role.
You can get that when his son trying to struggle him and accused him of stealing everything from him. He replied with "I never meant to steal anything from you, i only meant to give you. Considering your cruel fate, if only for a fleeting moment, i wanted you to feel what it is to be a father and a husband".

You can say what he did was cruel or actually it shows that Gengo could never actually become completely cruel and inhuman as to not at least give his child some chance to experience love and normal life and simple raise him for the ultimate goal. He risked his own plans just to give his son the chance to experience those things since the more risk free strategy for his plans was to raise his son by brainwashing him every day about his purpose and reason to live etc.

Of course that may have hurt his son more than if he never felt those things but sometimes you regret more not ever experiencing something instead of experiencing it and then losing it. Because at least you had the chance to feel it.

It's really easy to judge this situation from afar, was his last act as a human a pathetic attempt to run away from the overbearing fate he was dealt with, yes no argument there. Could you imagine your own daughter killing your wife, seeing your wife almost kill your newborn, having this surrogate mother in this extremely awkward situation, no emotional connection from the children. I mean, I expect this to happen, people commit suicide for a whole lot less than this.

I believe Gengo is the real asshole here. If his son was meant to be a pandora hybrid super breeder he should have raised him this way. Gengo didn't even tell Ryuichi that he was an extradimensional alien hybrid until his wife almost died carrying Kazuya. He could have told his son when he was like 13,16 or perhaps 18 years old.

Gengo being the asshole he is left his son in the dark and after he made a family he casually informed his son that the fate of the world rests on his shoulders and then tried to force him to abandon his family to have incest babies with his sisters. Gengo even went as far as to mock his dead wife and tried to brow beat his son into his "intended" role. Showing no sympathy to his son at any point. Add to that his wife was emotionally unstable and Kazuha's weird (by human standards) behavior and it's really no surprise that the pressure proved too much. Granted, raping Cassandra was uncalled for, but he was pretty much insane by that point.

Who else gets the feeling that Gengo simultaneously believes he deserves to die yet feels like he can't afford to yet? I believe the reason he is always risking himself on the front lines isn't to show his stone cold demeanor but because he believes that after all of sins he must at lest share the risk. At the stone cold demeanor isn't because he doesn't care but because in a way he is numb to the value of his own life.

Also while I don't know if this is still true, at least fairly recently Japan has a stigma against mental illness and seeking psychiatric help. It is looked upon as shameful. So that might be the reason no one gets a therapist even though it would help.
