I really liked the plot, the post apocalyptic setting and the characters , especially Shuu and Dolly, i wonder why only 400 people on mal have completed this series.

There's a trend here on MAL and i think it has to do with the invention of the internet and globalization in general.
It happens to any studio that existed prior to the internet, that has very old animes. This animes have a very low ammount of users that interacted with it, like 5k or less wich is very low.
If you take a any shitty anime of today and compare it, they usually have more than 70k users. That has to do with timing, a new anime will allways receive more attention because the industry it's way more glabalized than before. Anime is now shared and talked about.

The cons of an old anime is that you have to shearch for it because no one know about it. But sometimes you'll find a burried gem.
