Original TV anime Sakura Quest was announced today by P.A. Works. This is their third "working theme" series; similar to Hanasaku Iroha and Shirobako.

What are you expecting from this?

I'm expecting it to be really boring. Sorry but I just couldn't get through Shirobako... Kuromukuro is what I liked from them recently.

I'm really looking forward to it!! I absolutely love P.A. Works' "working anime" (Hanasaku Iroha and Shirobako - both of which are two of my favorites), so I have high expectations coming from this. Hope it does not disappoint!

Shirobako and Hanasaku Iroha are two of my favourite 10/10s. Kuromukuro was also fantastic. I'll try whatever PA works puts out at this point, especially if it's another "working" show of the kind they excel at! High hopes.

Really looking forward to this. I hope P.A. Works will deliver with this one as well, just like Shirobako and Hanasaku Iroha did. I loved their recent Kuromukuro as well.

Man as much as I loved PA Works' work related SOL animes from Iroha and Shirobako, I can't help but doubt about their recent issue with the way they treat their employees which makes me doubt more on what they can offer on the quality side of animation these days, hope I proved wrong though cause man you can never go wrong with PA Works in terms of animation

This is instantly my most anticipated anime of 2017. Shirobako and Hanasaku Iroha were FANTASTIC and two of my all-time favorites.

PLEASE be 24 episodes. I hate it when I watch something great and it only lasts for 13 episodes or less!

Well, both Hanasaku and Shirobako (the shows that they are comparing Sakura Quest to) are 2 cours. If Sakura Quest come out to be 1 cour, I'll be 100% disappointed with P.A..

Although they did just finish a 2 cour Kuromukuro so...

Normally, any time they do a major release with their main team it is a 2-cour full show. I'm 95% certain Sakura Quest will be the same considering they are grouping it with Shirobako and Hanasaku Iroha.

I honestly am expecting it to be good but I have some mixed expectations after seeing the PV. For once I'm actually genuinely excited for this, at least for P.A Works.

What's with those subtle shots lol.

Angel Beats, Nagi no Asukara, & Charlotte are 3 of my favourite anime of all time.

Shirobako was also very good, & Kuromukuro would probably be my most underrated anime of 2016 if i didn't feel Erased was so unprecedentedly hated.

To answer the question; in a season where

Shaft, Production IG, Madhouse, ufotable, & KyotoAni are combining for ZERO shows;

Pressure is really on here.

We know AoT2 is likely to be AOTS, and that there is a plethora of middling sequels (BnHA, Saekano, etc)

but someone has to surprise.

Zero Kara, Sakura Quest, & Re:creators - I'm looking @ you.

Well let me try to clarify if you don't know how I am with P.A. I'm mixed with them. Just because: Angel Beats was alright for me but it didn't hitted me, the ending was probably the one where it dip down for me. Nagi no Asukara is okay, however the second half is what nailed badly for me with the love triangle stuff (Idk if I can even call it like that), Charlotte was average at best for me but the problem was more so the execution and especially that finale was the nail in the coffin to drive people off.

I do agree that Shirobako is great and I need to still finish Kuromukuro. But that's not the reason why I even dislike them. There's shows like Hanasaku Iroha which I'm not the biggest fan of (and my opinion is outdated as hell, so with that my thought can be lackluster), there's also Another which was the worst horror I've seen. It's not even a horror, it's just unintentional comedy. The other one would be HaruChika, albeit not good it wasn't bad either.

There's also Glasslip which sucked major much with the exception of the OP and the art which was very good. But other than that, not great... it was probably the most terrible show out of all of P.A Works shows.

I can't comment on the others like True Tears, Tari Tari, and Canaan. Because I haven't seen them yet.

I forgot Tari Tari, I genuinely highly enjoyed that show as well. Uchouten Kazoku is another show that is pretty good (though overrated, imo).

I don't defend Haruchika, it was probably one of the dullest shows i've seen in a long time. Nor do i defend RDG Data Girl. (two of the worst shows ive ever seen arguably).

I actually intentionally skipped Glasslip cause its reception was literally unprecedentedly negative.

I shockingly haven't seen Another or Hanasaku Iroha, so i won't speak on them other than that reception wise the latter is well praised, and the former is probably irrationally hated the same way most other shows that get popular are hated (looking @ Charlotte.)

All in All PA Works has a body of work and track record that very few studios would actively want to compete against.

But the town in which anime takes place is fictional, right? I don't really get it then. Why make an anime about tourism in a fictional place? The show could serve as a good promotion to a real place. It would also add some realism to the show's theme.

I know Hanasaku Iroha was more of a romance than a show about working people, but it actually was modeled according to a real place. Even Tari Tari took place in Enoshima.
So what happened here? There are plenty of smaller towns in Japan in which this anime could take place. This really disappoints me, so realism of working in tourism industry will probably be very shallow and without it, i doubt that this anime is going to be any good other than having nice animation and cute girls.

Nowadays P.A. Works is pretty hit or miss the bejesus out of it, with lots of misses recently.

I'll give it a shot but I don't expect much from them anymore.

I absolutely loved Shirobako, and I'm still planning to watch Hanasaku Iroha, but I've heard a lot of good things about it already.

Needless to say, I'm excited about this one
