I hope they won't ruin the game plot (Rose as You-Know-Who).

I really hope they do justice to dezel's character. In the game he was cool (though a bit edgy) . But there was potential wasted with his character in game.

I second that.

The visuals in the ED confused me. Why would they turn on each other? Anime-only watcher, btw

I'm liking the opening more and more, reminds me of Fate stay night's 2nd opening with the beginning.

The art still looks gorgeous, so even without the plot being that good I was still entertained.
Also I noticed it last episode but Sergei is so cute xD his blushing and he actually cares for his country, I love that (Also his design is awesome)
The ending shots is HOLY damn amazing looking, man.. I sure love Ufo's art.

The build-up was pretty decent this episode, I wonder how Rose will deal because her secret is gonna come out eventually.
PV was funny.

Me too. Some people say the first opening Kaze no Uta is better, which I actually agree, but this song in particular has a melancholic tune to it that I think would fit the second cour better. It's the same case with UBW. The first OP was upbeat but the second one was slower.

Agreed. A song like the first one doesn't really fit what is to come... assuming, of course, that they don't skip too much :P

HA! All you impatient people that can't handle a single snail speed build up episode. Thank god I watched tons of slice of life and shonens and build up episodes such as this are just par for the course for me.

My only concern is how will they handle all the content with this slow pace, but I suspect they will speed up quite a bit on later episodes.

Also, you can think whatever you want about the anime adaptation, but it's absolutely better than the source.

Yeah, maybe we, or at least I'm impatient but I really don't like slow pacing animes, especially when nothing happens in one single episode and considered the fact there are so much to do. Thank god I don't watch a lot of slice of life and shounens with many fillers. I have a life. I don't like wasting my time watching series like this but unfortunately Zestiria the X is that kind of show.
I think they won't be able to that. There were many things to show in the first cour they didn't even do it.
But we'll see =)
It's just a matter of taste. For me the game is way better for many reasons I've already pointed out but most of the people who are saying the anime is better don't even explain why and just say "the game is horrible" so it's not even interesting to discuss with them.

Well, I don't hate the game, but I thinks there's some things that the anime is handling better despite the slow pacing:

1.I don't remember any specific example but I believe there's a some notable inconsistencies and contradictions involving how malevolence works and affects people, not to mention how lacking the explanations about malevolence are in the first place. Here in the adaptation they seem to be taking their time to explain better how malevolence works and avoid creating inconsistencies with it. They're also giving a additional touch to it by making the shepherd take a more notable hit for purifying malevolence which makes things more interesting.

2.The adaptation is giving more world building and characterization than the game did. That's a good thing in my eyes. I prefer a slow but more detailed show than a Koutetsujou no Kabaneri.

3.I believe the adaptation is handling some characters better. Alisha, they made sure to show us she have courage and skills and the way they handled her character until her separation from the group was much better. Edna, I think the string of events that led up to her joining the team were better. Mikleo, instead of making him a jealous and whiny guy for having no purification powers, they made him have trust in his friend and the resolve to go on his own small adventure to obtain new powers, that was miles better IMO. Rose, in the game she was kind of a Mary Sue, here they made her equaly Mary Sue'y but they seem to be building up for her to have some struggles, this exact episode (S2 Ep2) just showed us how she is starting to have some inner conflicts. Sorey is Sorey as always , but it looks like the events that Ufotable are be setting up will put more pressure on his morals than the game did.

Happy to see that after a short pause for reflection, we step back to action. Narrative that manages to create the right atmosphere in the context shown, the credit also goes to the soundtrack. Drawings and animations, good quality.

Ok! I see what you mean, thanks =)

For me it's different since I think that the explanations in the anime are confused, I even had to explain to some friends what malevolence is from what I've learn in the game because they didn't understand it in the anime. Sure, they take their time to explain it in the anime, but it's not really clear according to me compared to the game (even if in the game it's not that easy to understand at first).

I haven't watch Kabaneri because I hate the fact that Wit Studio is using Shingeki no Kyojin's ideas and popularity to make a similar anime (lol). But for Zestiria anime I'm kinda disappointed that the characters are changed from the game. We can't see Sorey and Mikleo as ruin maniacs, Edna can't even place a joke, Rose is hesitating while in the game she's the one who has a clear vision...
I liked Alisha in the game. She cares for her people, she decides to be a Squire to help Sorey a make her dream comes true... She also has a badass moment when Sorey is cornered by Bartlow during the diner and then she comes and escape with him and the ScatteredBones in the underground. She also have a good evolution in Marlind thanks to Lucas, and then after the Maltran's arc. She becomes stronger enough to handle the peace talking in Rolance. In the anime it was more like they keep showing her like a badass character but at the same time she seems so weak in front of Sorey (in Marlind when the water falls from her hands). Like if everything was just a facade. And all the nonsense with Alisha and Rose fighting together lol. I don't even understand why they decided to show two of her knights (one of them talking about her chest - who cares?) rather than Lucas because thanks to him, Sorey and Alisha have learned that naive ideals won't save people.
Moreover, in the anime, the seraphs (Mikleo, Lailah, Edna) are mostly in the background, while in the game there is a group! What's the point to see Sorey trusting his friend (when Mikleo goes alone on his small journey"), if after that we barely see this supposed best friend interacting with him? ^^'
I don't understand why some people call Rose a Mary Sue. It's not like she is a perfect character, good at eveything, etc... She's more like a happy-go-lucky character who has her secrets but who's willing to do anything for her friends.
Even Sorey is changed from the game. Do you remember how he went on a berserk mode just because Alisha was injured because of Landon? Sorey is not like this in the game, he's not the type to be corrupted by malevolence.

Because of this points I think there are too much inconsistencies in the anime's story, moreover they are adding useless changes so I think we won't be able to see the most interesting parts of the story (Pendrago arc and the story of the previous Shepherd).

Anyway, thanks for sharing your opinion =)

In the Anime, he went "berserk" but ultimately turned the general back into human. In the game, the general was beyond saving and I was under the impression that Sorey killed him.

I mean, that general collapsed on the ground, remaining as a Hellion. Also, the only other mention of him was "shortly after, the army stopped their advance after losing their general".

But still, in the anime it was not on par with Sorey's character. There were several deaths in the game and he never went that berserk, it felt so weird to see him going like that just for Alisha.
In the game the group is asking themselves why Landon doesn't regain his human form (just after the battle against him) but Lailah explains that the source of malevolence is still there (at Glaivend Bassin). Sorey has beaten Landon (he hasn't kill him) but he can't purify him because of The Lord of Calamity's domain which is too powerful for Sorey. Unfortunately, they didn't show any of this in the anime. They were too busy focusing on Alisha fighting against Landon's soldiers... =/

so Roland has similar issues as Hyland, but here it's Church vs monarchy rule. Sergei quite a funny fella.
Oldman exposition on past shepherd, basically the Alisha vs Rose ideal.
Rose, more detail of her 2 jobs, and her stalkerseraph.
ED is fantastic, much wallpaper.

Damn the ending would've made a way better opening than the ending. It's way more hype than the sad-ish opening.

Well, it was an okay episode, but I can already see the first season was definitely better than this.

I also miss Alisha.
