| That Nabiki-focused OP was SO GOOOOD. But of course, it baited me into thinking this OVA/Movie was gonna be Nabiki-focused too. :( As usual, she's just a background character. This is more hilarious than the last 2 movies combined. I don't really get why this "movie" is only 28 minutes long. Certainly could've been longer. It also brought back Kuno in a larger role when he was mostly absent in the OVAs so I liked that. I also loved Ranma and Ryoga teaming up. How rare is that? The ED was also great. Also, both the ED and OP have English dubbed versions. The English ED is slightly different so I think everyone should listen to it. |
| Is it bad that the best part of this was the OP and ED? Nah but really it was good lol, a good one to return to Ranma with since I never did hit these remaining entries after finishing the main OVAs, I started Maison Ikkoku shortly after that and never took the time to truly finish Ranma, well now that Maison Ikkoku is done I figured I’d give Ranma the proper attention it deserves one last time, and Season 2 will be here this fall so it’s good timing. Back to that OP and ED tho, damn they were good, not just for the songs but I also loved the waifu centric visuals, although I will admit that Nabiki focused OP had me thinking she would take the spotlight in this “movie” lol, that wasn’t the case. And I just found this out like two weeks after writing this post, but the OP and ED listed for this entry are not the ones used in it, a shame but hopefully I can still find them on YouTube or something. The episode itself tho, it was a good time, the Phoenix ended up being kinda lame but it made for a funny situation, this goofy ass bird just locks onto the first person it sees and makes their life hell lol. And you’re telling me this process is supposed to take 100 years? In that case, thank goodness for Ukyo and Shampoo making those pills, Sasuke came in clutch there even if it meant lying to the babes lol, but hey this meant Unkyo made an appearance in this so no complaints from me. Kuno was also fun here, it had those moments where he goes completely dumb for the pigtailed girl and Akane but the way he took advantage of the Phoenix made for good moments, and the final battle was fun too, didn’t expect the Phoenix to just get bigger and not mature physically lol. And with that I’m back in Ranma 1/2 for a bit, if the quality of the upcoming OVAs is as good as this then I think I’m in for a good time. |
