This is not the first time that I have seen titles with a young emotional female lead and older mature male mentor. BNA, Act-Age, Arte, Cop Craft etc. Is this some kind of new trend or is it profitable in terms of promotion?

Why do you think this is a sexist?

It's not anything new, the trend has been around since as far back as the 70s.
Please learn about cel animation and its technical process.

Well, in the old original shows, it was mostly a generic boy and a generic girl in an attempt to attract audiences of any gender.

Sometimes but not mostly, just like you have it nowadays.

Because some people will always find something to be offended about >_>

Well, if you look at the original anime now, it’s either shonen-ish female lead or Eroge-like male MC. A notable example was the SSSS Gridman, where there was a gender-neutral main cast, but thanks to the loopholes known to you, the characters were formally separated from each other.

I mean, there are only so many ways to pair a young female lead, and a reverse harem/teenage boy would definitely not work well in this case...

In many cases, this just looks like an excuse for keeping yuri bait and the avatar of a male audience in one title.
