Seki stated it outright. He's done something incredibly smart by creating a gamble that if Tatsuhiko wins, Taki gets his grubby paws off Shinjuku, and if Taki wins, he gets what he wanted this whole time: Seki at his side. And what followed felt incredibly Yakuza, as in the game series, and specifically as in the ending of Yakuza 2! Stuff like Taki tearing off his coat and the unique location. I had thought a sky-high battle would remind of Hideyoshi, but this is actually giving me vivid flashbacks to that game's climax.

But it's pretty sad all around. Seki revved up Tatsuhiko with a reminder of all the suffering he went through, the emotion needed behind a conflict like this. And quite honestly I'm impressed that Tatsuhiko is holding it together. He saw how much one of his good friends was suffering and they were shot in front of him, he learned that Hayama who he's had explicit conversations with about his friends was responsible for the fate of Hideyoshi and Yousuke. A fate that has haunted him. Now he's being put into a fight for the fate of Shinjuku but as Seki said, perhaps a fight is what he needs to get it out of his system. All I know is, with this in mind, I'm even more appreciative of Seki coming through for Tatsuhiko, it was a pillar of light in a time that he needed it.

But Taki started to open up too. It was as if he was too was venting about all of his suffering. Perhaps a call for help to Seki who, in a sense, he suffered for. He seemed invincible in Yokohama but he was barely holding everything together. The iron triangle was bleeding Taki of his cash through bribes, he had to drug deal to pay them. His ketsumochi was abusing his power, beating him on drugs. The imagery of not even having fake back teeth because they get knocked out so much is strong, his kingdom was hardly held together. Many of us were sure to speculate that Houraikai’s Masaki beat him due to Yamashiro and Mako bringing forth the information of his intended alliance with Monbukai. However, I at least didn't expect any of the other pressures that were crushing him. The fact that he held it together despite this shows that he fought hard for that mysterious promise.

To talk about the art for a moment, if anybody reading this saw me talk about Ide’s design change probably a year ago, they would know that I adore natural changes in character design, and Seki has had two. The drastic haircut and now his forehead scar from the time a cinder block was broken over his head. Radical!
