It wasn't the imagination of younger Shouko, instead it was indeed the older Shouko: the Shouko in the future if Mai actually died. Sakuta ended up saving himself from the accident the second time, meaning that no one died from the accident, Mai and Sakuta lived on, and Shouko died of illness as no one had extra organs available. |
