Seems like the new vampire unit is still out there attacking all the left over vampires. Kurusu is trying to sneak away but Suwa and the girl aren't on good terms xD.

And tonight, Defrott is out. The 'play' isn't beautiful for him.
Really love Aoi's personality, caring and lovely.
The sneaky Lt. and Rufus exchanging information..
He set his eyes on Aoi, goddamn..
The smart guy Takeguchi with his ideas, he's making a plane xD.
Seems like he unravel the truth about the vampires.

Maede is back..

A good episode, can't wait for the next one.

The reference of William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer's Night Dream" is very apt for this episode.

The only way that the Code Zero remnants can get out of the artificial vampire unit's way is to sneak theur way through. With Lieutenant General Nakajima passing all control to the antagonist lead Rufus, only downfall will ensue.

As for Defrott and Aoi, their existence to act out plays is as illusive, as much for Aoi who witnessed the final minutes of Misaka who played Salomé. Defrott is pretty much caught within the range of Rufus, who desires only destruction. The stage play of Orpheus and Eurydice was temporary astounding, though it did not take long for Defrott to receive Rufus's invitation into the former Code Zero quarters to see through his diabolical plan of using Aoi against him.

The case that Takeuchi has been hiding for quite the extensive time for a box of blood useful to the child vampires housing in Tenmanya, that would help a lot, but being vampires, they risk sacrificing their lives. But for the same amount of progress that they've been working behind the scenes in Tenmanya, they give the children a long change to live.

Still a low-key episode, but definitely setting up for some big thngs incoming. And...Maeda's back from the dead.

The vampires are really having a close encounter with hell itself. Some are desperate for blood, some are just killing each other for it. And, others are dying at the hands of the red specs.

Kurusu and the boys are looking for that special box under the water where the box contains a special kind of blood sample that doesn't change its appearance nor it coagulates. But, also it's quite dangerous if exposed to the sunlight, it explodes. But, this can lead even the vampires to age. So, it's a win-win for them if they wanna age at least a little.

Those vampire kids have dreams as well which was admirable because they're kids after all. Rufus really played his card this time by taking Aoi to lead Defrott into his deathtrap of sunlight. Was that Colonel Maeda at the end? I'm guessing so...

I kinda suspect but this episode confirm it, that Suwa loves entertainment. Remember in red light district, he seems to be a regular customer there. And now in this episode he suddenly want to watch a play in town. Despite being such a lone wolf vampire, could this be personality gap of him?

There was some more of Deflot this episode, which is always welcomed.

Maeda's back, so that's that too.

I'm interested to see where this show can take itself with the last three episodes.

Like I didn't hate it, but I definitely didn't enjoy it. Without Maeda it's just been boring. Plus the vibe of the show has drastically shifted. I enjoyed the military aspect of it, and that's been nonexistent after the stupid new vampire unit.

Idk, this show had me enthralled at the start. Not so much anymore.

I kind of got the idea of what happens when Deflot gives his blood away to other humans. It makes their strongest desire take control over them. Misaki wanted to have a role in that Play which made her always recite words from the play while dancing. And Maeda's hatred for vampires makes him want to kill every vampire.

I wonder what happens next... Has Maeda really become more obsessed with killing vampires, or was it just his anger towards Deflot or Rufus for making him remember Misaki.

Fricking Maeda man they really teasing us with him coming back into the story. Rufus is up to his shit and Defrot just doesn't wanna deal with it. I mean really what is his deal. He obvy not dying here when I feel like there is still much we don't know about him. The entire ending is about him so he's obviously important and I mean the way Rufus interacts with him gives that away anyway.

I have no idea where this is trying to go or what this is trying to say. This is starting to become a bunch of plot points that are randomly stitched together, instead of being properly sewn together by a theme. Ever since the random earthquake, this story just feels like it's missing something.

Since when does Deffrot care about Aoi? Why does anyone care about Aoi? She is so unnecessary. She's the carpet chapter in "The Picture of Dorian Gray"!

Ah another daily Zero activity on Tenmanya places. I can see them more attached to their new activities as a vampire activist, rather than their previous job as a vampire soldier. Suwa even more got attached to those three kids, which is kinda be a worry to me, if something bad happened again, like a previous shit. Well, anyway more or less, good job, guys, and can't wait for Takeuchi to finished up that 'flying machine'. Will it be their secret weapon to beat the old man general and his ruckus Rufus shit? Can't wait for it.

The other half when Defrott got hooked by those shitty ruckus really make me dissapointed. Its an obvious one, even though i ever think its for Kurusu. But, since Rufus already stated his hatred, so well, that shit happened. Then, Maeda arrived. Idk why they did that cheap shit tease twice in a row, making Maeda always appear very shortly in the near end. Hope they really take Maeda new appearance seriously next time, or i will be in a rampage.

Lets see it, then!

The way all plots are finally coming to a close as the actors return to the stage has got me thrilled.

These episodes have only gotten more and more enjoyable since the quake, and I can see many a tragedy befalling our beloved vampires before the end.

But there is still hope.

Really good episode! We got lots of Deflot this episode which is nice, his performance in the play was fantastic. Always will be a treat to hear Miyuki Sawashiro's voice. Man fuck Rufus, leave Aoi out of this. Kurusu gonna be sad if anything happens to Aoi.

Damn, so like Misaki, Maeda is not fully in control of himself as a vampire and is only focused on his goal. Misaki kept acting because she wanted Maeda to see her performance. Maeda on the other hand wants to kill all vampires, that ain't good for our bros. I guess that's the effect of Deflot's blood. Looking forward to the next episode.

I agree that the story hasn't been as good since the earthquake happened. There's like 3 different plotlines going on at once. I get that the earthquake happening and all these citizens being being turned into vampires would make everything be pretty doom and gloom, but this has been going on for what, 3 episodes now?
At least this season is 13 episodes, so there's still 3 more episodes to hopefully give a decent enough conclusion.

I hope Maeda isn't completely insane and becomes an antagonist. Since he's been out of the story these past episodes, I think that's another reason why I haven't been enjoying these past few episodes as much. I also think killing off Deffrot would be a waste but idk how he's gonna not get burned to death by the sun rays if that bastard Rufus can just keeping doing what he was about to do. Although wouldn't Maeda die too if he tris to attack Deffrot? He's have to pass through all that sunlight coming down. Guess we'll see! and I hope the story gets more exciting again

Seeing the vampire house is nice, I’m glad they’re working together and getting along. I’m sure the trains are gonna get attacked though or something bad will happen like someone noticing the flying machine.

I liked getting to see Defrott a lot more and it seems we are reaching the climax of her story. I am almost certain that we are going to see Defrotts and Rufus’ history next episode.

It’s a shame that Maeda seems to have gone insane, it was definitely him. Hopefully he only needs blood or something, I would love to see him again. At least not right at the end of an episode as a cliffhanger.

Overall not the best episode, but a fairly interesting one nonetheless. I hope we get to see more of Defrott and Maeda next time, can’t wait.

^ This.
I am so damn confused much like everyone else after that random earthquake.

Since... episode 2? It's pretty clear that Defrott got interested in her because she reminds him of Misaki (and we know that he was attached to her). There are so many parallels between the two girls! First of all, they have a veeeery similar physical appearance to the point that even Maeda is reminded of Misaki everytime he sees Aoi.

They also share the same caring personality for Defrott, and I can totally see why Rufus told him that Aoi is like an older sister for him; I think the same was for Misaki. Lastly, the most important thing: they share the same passion for the theatre, the only thing that Defrott clearly loves! Aoi got that passion by watching Misaki and - just like her - she managed to make Defrott smile more than once thanks to the theatre (it was also the first thing they discussed when they first met). The two girls have been two small but important lights in his long and dark life.

I could go on adding that his interest in Aoi was already shown multiple times, one example being the scene (in episode 4 iirc) in which he takes away the Ascra from Aoi - which was given to her by Rufus - basically saving her. The boy just needs a sister-like figure with a passion for theatre.

I still don't understand what Rufus and Nakajima actually want from all this. How is random vampires good for anyone? It doesn't help Rufus target the stronger vampires that could threaten him. It definitely doesn't make a point that Nakajima's forces are useful cause everything's gone to shit since deploying them.

This anime has severely disappointed me.

I keep thinking that we are getting somewhere, only to be completely underwhelmed and left hoping that next episode will be when it turns it around. I have kept watching through a bunch of mediocrity because of a few good episodes, and it has become abundantly clear that the creators don’t even know where they are going with this story.

I didn’t think I would, but it looks like this is where I’m dropping this anime. If it turns out that the next few episodes bring it home, I’ll pick it back up.

Its now episode 10 and its good.. and things are now going slowly towards the climax, as maeda finally makes his appearance?! Tho just in the end.. just what will happen next? When aoi will now discover that deflott was actually a vampire? Also, i can relate with deflott a bit, since its also on stage that i tend to forget everything and just focus on doing my part.. since real life isnt like in the movies or series, that u will know what ur role is and u know what will happen.. also, that u will experience what u may not experience in real life, as real life sometimes sucks.. well, the other sane vampires are doing good, and is now planning to escape the city using a train.. anyways, i rate the episode a 4.5 of 5, 4.5 for both story and art.. :)

Pretty much this for me, too. The tragedy of Misaki and Maeda presented in the first episode in such tasteful, subtle ways, pretty much the epitome of show don't tell, was enough for me to consider it the best first episode of the season. I found Maeda a riveting character after that, Deflotte is pretty engaging, too, but the rest of Code Zero not so much. With just them remaining in the picture, the show became boring in addition to going in a weird direction. It was pretty clear that Deflotte made Maeda into a (real and likely A+ class) vampire with his blood, so I was going through the tedious ordeal the show had become waiting for Maeda to reappear. Given the circumstances of his reappearance though, I'm afraid he might die (for real this time) saving Deflotte. If that comes to pass, Mars Red will lose most of its appeal to me.

It appears that (former?) Colonel Maeda has gone vampire mad, which might explain why he was AWOL for so many episodes. Misaki went up in smoke a few feet away from him but he thought that Aoi was Misaki (by the way, the reason Aoi was drawn to look like an identical twin of Misaki was apparently so Maeda can confuse the two, at least in part). Moreover, Aoi was standing under direct sunlight so she cannot be a vampire, but vampire madness probably does not care about such details..

What I don't understand after so many episodes is why the remaining Code Zero team has neither gone after Lt General Nakajima (who appears to have gone completely mad; what exactly is his goal, to turn the entire Tokyo population into vampires just to have his vampire army approved?), who is the actual source of the "vampire pandemic" nor -more importantly- have they warned anyone* not to take the vampire "vaccine" since it is actually a vampire infection agent. Is that because they were left leaderless after the disappearance of Maeda and they don't know what to do, thus they have defaulted to survival mode?

*Why not inform someone in the army high in the food chain that the "vaccine" is the disease rather than the cure and that this was all planned by Nakajima to acquire his vampire army? By the way, how on Earth does the army produce a "vaccine" in such massive quantities without having tested it? On top of everything else how on Earth did Nakajima face no consequences after killing the freaking Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan in his freaking office?!?

Although I'm still having fun watching mars red, I've gotta say that the plot is not going anywhere really. I didn't understand why they wasted so many episodes showing Kurusu doing nothing lol.

I still don't understand Rufus' motivations and I also don't understand why Defrott didn't tell anyone about what Rufus is doing. I know that he is doing his best to disguise who he really is but he could have done more imo.

And why the militaries are not concerned that people are turning into vampires out of the blue? It looks like they just don't care if the whole population dies. I can't believe that no one realized that the vaccine is fake.

We are talking about 19th century Japan here. The military absolutely does not care if a city or two goes dark if it means gaining an edge in the geopolitical arena.

And the thing about the vaccine is that for most people it seems to be working alright. This episode we even got to see the two fanboy brothers after they've gotten their doses to prove it.

I imagine its only afflicting those rare few people who would have turned anyways when infected by "normal" means, like our Code Zero friends. Considering the alternative used to be instantaneous death once the body rejected the contaminated blood, this medicine seems to have some pretty high efficacy.

I do not like what's been done to Maeda. I like that he's a vampire now, but he was way too strong-minded as a human to be turned into a mindless vampire/vampire hunter.

Rufus having trapped Defrott and Aoi there (hopefully she doesn't die as that would be sad for Kurusu) was already ominous enough but vampire Maeda being an unexpected guest makes it even more so.
