so I just finished season 1 and I am confused about a couple of things:
1. Regarding Heaven's Gate and it's "disappearance", Professor Schroeder said towards the end that if one Gate disappears the other which in this case is Hell's Gate would inevitably disappear as well so well why didn't it?
2.Destroying Hell's Gate would eradicate contractors but destroying the whole of Japan would somehow save all contractors or have I misunderstood this but yes I know at the end Hei stopped the Gate from being destroyed just curious though..

from what I remember Heaven's gate wasn't destroyed. It was made inert so it can't be manipulated by anyone anymore, therefore it was abandoned by all political factions and from that point on they focused on manipulating Hell's gate.

I think that each gate was like 10 miles wide or something while active but by making a gate inert it widens the gate's effect by like a 100 mile radius which would make Japan basically uninhabitable and I think kill anyone within the gate when the inert effect became active. this happened with Heaven's gate but that was like in the middle of the Amazon rainforest so it wasn't a big deal to render that area inert.

BTW when I say it becomes inert that means it can no longer be destroyed and I think nothing can physically enter into that area anymore too.

the main point of the gates were to have a way to get rid of the contractors forever, and while some people, including contractors wanted this to happen, Hei and many others equally didn't want to kill off so many people like that. kind of like a situation where it's better to struggle and suffer with contractors, than take the easy way out and commit genocide on people who were forced into the situation with contractors and other supernatural people.
