There is a spinoff LN titled "If", which depicts what would happen if Subaru would run away and settle down with Rem after episode 18.
Maybe one day it will be adapted.

Its a spinoff of called Re:If-Sloth. Basically it's "What if" Rem and Subaru ran of together. I highly recommend it since it's a good read. (Even the other If route tbh).

well, it's not like there always has to be a good reason to fall in love. sometimes even the one who falls in love doesn't understand it so why would you? and that comes from a huge rem fan btw

Well, I guess it’s not really about whether there’s a good reason, but more about Emilia fans arguing that she deserves Subaru’s love more than Rem, when Rem actually won him over slowly and earned it as opposed to Emilia.

Well, I guess it’s not really about whether there’s a good reason, but more about Emilia fans arguing that she deserves Subaru’s love more than Rem, when Rem actually won him over slowly and earned it as opposed to Emilia.

Emilia did earn it, though. You can argue that Rem earned it more so, but it isn’t like Emilia did nothing and Subaru gravitated towards her. She saved Subaru (a stranger) despite being in a hurry to retrieve something meaningful to her. Whilst this initially blooms into more of a codependency, after Subaru’s change(?) the feelings of adoration and love blossom into genuine feelings for Emilia rather than the toxic ones that existed before.

As a Emilia fan I think Subaru should be with someone like Crusch or even Julius, they probably would do a better job protecting Subaru than Rem and Emilia.

Also I'm so tired of seeing Subaru suffer trying to save Rem, and Emilia is still a child mentally.

It is interesting that this show has spent more time on the Rem-Sub relationship than Emi-Sub.

I think once we see more, it will feel natural to have Emi-Sub together. Obviously that’s the way the show will go, and I want to see a happy+satisfying ending. But since there’s been more Rem screen time than Emilia it still feels forced.

I think it will work itself out in time.

I agree man Emilia just seems immature. The reason I like Rem is because Rem is actually the one who is constantly saving Subaru, both directly and indirectly. She genuinely just loves him and wants him to be happy even despite knowing he loves Emilia and still fully supports him in his every move. I actually really liked Crusch as well and think that relationship would be really interesting as well. I just straight up didn’t like Emilia though. I thought she was alright in S1 but in S2 and S3 I just couldn’t stand her anymore.
