People these days must have fallen on their heads a lot in their childhood to come up with all these retarded takes

Sorry, I didn't realize "Overlord" means "wins effortlessly". My fault.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

Knowing about international events makes me a Twitter-user? That claim makes you a a Trumper.

And I love Ajin for all kind of things, seeing people murdered is not one of them and I hate the torture scene.

international events? what the fuck are you saying? but what can I expect from a person like you? so I can't Say that you are from Twitter since you are being toxic when you are? your way of thinking is so wrong

Wtf are you talking about? Just Drop Overlord and stop being a crybaby that wants attention. Literally brought up Ukraine in this for no reason at all.

Also AOT has more civilians being killed than Overlord, but I guess you really enjoy that since you rated it so highly?

Nobody watches AoT to see people get brutalized, you dumbwit.

Nobody watches Overlord for people getting killed. Also crazy that you got triggered by that part.

I honestly only watch this anime when I'm eating because it's easy to watch. It is bad? Of course not lmao! I love seeing the despair in humans in the face of the inevitable

Last week the prince was offed, this week Glaus. Both were the only human characters that had any chance of opposing Ainz. How is this exciting for anyone? Are there really people braindead enough to enjoy this 100% one-sided domination? Are these the people that play games with god-cheat on?

Ever since season 3, this anime has me hoping that AT LONG LAST, humans manage to strike back. But it's always Ainz winning effortlessly. Pure unfun.

in my eyes this entire season has been to expose how weak humanity is, and the struggle will come when the godkin are introduced. the reason i enjoy this is coz its satisfying seeing a plan followed through to perfection, and how lost and confused this can make the people in opposition. simple fact is the guardians think that humanity is a lesser species and this season is to prove them right

Cause its good ?

World building is top notch, same with its cast.

Seeing an isekai from an antagonist standpoint is super refreshing and great as well.

I mean its not a master piece by miles but still a solid asf anime with a lot of episodes to enjoy.

And honestly if you compare it to a lot of isekai its by far miles better than alot majority of them. Your just not an isekai enjoyer so prolly that's why you don't like this show. But after watching every seasonal isekai for years i can with certainty say overlord has alot more quality than 95% of titles in this sub genre.

Hahaha I love this idiot. The creator of this thread posted their opinion in the episode discussion thread. Nobody took the bait so they made this one. Then, they got butthurt so they made a political thread?

They are hostile with every response and call anyone that disagrees with them a nazi. Must be a sad existence, to be so angry about others enjoying a cartoon.

Overlord is enjoyed by many and you can’t change that with your salty attitude.

The fun in overlord for me comes from:
Watching world's reaction to nazaric
Characters
Worldbuilding
This whole crash of op guild and a diverse world is fascinating... and yeah power fantasy is fun.

Yeah this season is surely boring. Most of the episodes are like fillers and the story is moving too slow. We have waited for this long to watch this boring season make me disappointed and then we have to wait 2-3 years to get another season. This is the most annoying thing about the Japanese anime season release. Shit..

If you ask me I love overpowered MC. For me nothing more exciting than an Overpowered character smashing down weakling. But this season is quite boring..😑😑

Well I don't like one side domination myself, I have started to lose interest. It started to boring. I was hoping that human would put a decent fight in this season although they couldn't win. Series started to get boring. Maybe in future something unexpected happens. We can either wait or drop the series

I'm hijacking this post for a moment because we have a group of people who clearly like the show and I have a follow-up question:

As a person who has watched it all and enjoyed it, there's one sticking point I'm trying to get over: does anyone else feel like a lot of the plot points just kind of... Dead end?

Hear me out before you get mad: it seems like we keep getting introduced to things and then just ignoring them. I realize that that is normal and would happen in political situations and in the real world, but does it make for good story telling?

The lizardmen, the dwarves, the village people, the wolf-mole people, the fortress in the forest, etc. It feels like we keep getting new stuff to learn about and then it's just gone.

Here's my hypothesis: I'm guessing those things either come up again later, or are more fleshed out in the light novel and less fleshed out in the anime. Is that true?

Again, I'm not complaining. I do enjoy watching Ainz and the crew beat the dog shit out of everyone. I'm just asking if anyone else has noticed this, or if I'm being hyper critical.

I believe I asked my question respectfully, so I'm hoping you hesitate to call me a fucking moron :)

I think it's certainly true that the novels are better, the show is quite lack-luster in terms of world-building. Honestly people enjoy this show as it's a fresh take on isekai and fantasy as we are put in the shoes of a powerful un-dead dictator, which is an interesting concept and is executed fairly well.

I would highly recommend the novels. The anime cuts a lot of internal dialogue for Ainz which makes him out to be more of a formidable force but also takes away the fun bit which is him just fumbling around, hoping not to make mistakes.

To someone who only watches Shounen and battle anime this might seem boring, but the draw here is more the unique characters, world and concept as opposed to break-neck action and fighting.

The light novels are more detailed and each arc feels better paced, but the root problem still remains. The light novels typically have a different story per volume (of which there are currently 16, rumoured to end at vol 18), but this does lead to an 'episodic' feel as the lack of overarching struggle or plot makes it seem aimless, more like a slice of life for our main character Ainz. I think that is the root problem - that Ainz is so overpowered and efficient that the lack of real challenge means an absence of anything to drive the plot along.
The light novels deal with this by giving some beautifully artistic illustrations and detailed descriptions and rich world-building, a lot of it gets lost in translation when it comes to the comparably less good-looking anime style and diluted story as a lot of exposition, dialogue and internal monologue of Ainz are skipped. This turns Overlord into something less like Ainz's autobiography /
adventure slice of life, and more like an action fantasy anime with less substance. I can certainly see why it's viewed as boring by many.

I mean this was the author's vision:

The anime changes the tone entirely into a much more comedic and less intimidating one.

Quite the amount of salt in the thread.

I must say that while I absolutely love the setup of the series as well as the cast and the worldbuilding, I would definitely love to see some higher dramatic stakes. Overlord has been among my favorites, but lately it has felt like it's seriously slowing down.

It's not as fricking boring as Log Horizon S3 was, but it's definitely a downgrade from S3 of Overlord. The right balance is not there for me.

I am sorry, but you weebs gotta take an L on this one.

I agree with the OP 100%. The series has turned boring. Everything is predictable and moves at slow pace. The first season is 10/10, second season started going downhill, third season redeemed the show....but this fourth season is complete dogshit.

I agree, this has been a very bad season in regards to adapting the sauce. I am not sure if its the fact i read the novels before s4 and my view is tainted but i enjoyed the first three seasons. This one was just so rushed and butchered i cant see me giving it no more then a 6. I am truely disappointed, on the bright side at least it wasnt such the mess that shield hero was last season.

Yeah, its beyond me why anyone watches this anymore. Season 1 was fun, season 2 and 3 had a total of, what? 5 good episodes between the 2, and on top of that the show also focuses on unimportant boring characters like Climb and the Lizards.

This show rly needed someone who could oppose Ainz, but it had nothing.
