I wouldn't say I liked the good-natured turning bad either. But his intentions were not wrong.

I had a feeling the old man was the villain after we saw the flashback.

Looks like Sherry will end up being a future antagonist.

why did he let himself get killed as cid if he immediately spilled the beans 5 minutes later? i mean, he killed him, but still. are you stupid? (putting aside how he somehow isn't recognized despite having literally the same face. did your illness ruin your eyes as well?)

sherry says it's a secret. well it's either resurrection or revenge. big bad maybe?

It was a good episode but I just kinda angry at Cid for not telling Sherry the truth or at least letting her know the truth by stalling Barnett long enough until she arrives to hear it herself.

Now if Sherry doesn't find the truth then she'll spent her life seeking revenge for a man that kill her mother, a fucking waste of time.

If Cid simply said "I don't care if she know the truth or not" then I kinda understand since it's in his character, but "You're better off not knowing", what?? How is it better that she doesn't know the truth??

In this case I found Cid to be "evil", in a way.
hes fool, not telling her is worse then telling her, new he created a villain and that's worse then trauma from the truth, villains path is a path to self destruction while trauma can be cured

in some places ppl said he did right cause it saves her from the trauma not thinking how the alternative can be worse

I hate this type of story arc that involves "You're better off not knowing" and then causing misunderstanding and revenge plotline. It feels like the author is just farming the story for content and I don't being farmed for views. Worst episode so far.

Cid not goin after him at once was, weird. Considering how broken that artifact is+how his name was stolen. poor sheryl tho, shitty life for sure lol. I really hate the fact that every single girl leaves though. I really wanted her to stay. She could actually have been a really good side char in the show. But it seems the author just wants to introduce new waifus every second. GUess she wasnt fanservice enough^"

Another unnecessary shit that Cid did cause he's a fucking idiot. He could've told Sherry the truth and the drama would have ended there but nah he just has to make her another enemy of shadow garden. As frustrating as it is, this is all just a game to him anyway. He's probably thinking that all these is just a product of Alpha's doing and her minions of maids. When will he realize the truth that all these is real lol

We learn that the step-in father was actually the person who killed Sherry's mother and used Sherry to do his bidding for her. Shadow garden's entry into the gymnasium was so badass! Their recital in line with each other was clean too. Episode was good and the series is getting better with the characters but the antagonists feel a bit anticlimactic. I feel bad for Sherry, she doesn't understand the context of the step-father but now that she's dead set on getting revenge against Shadow Garden it feels sad to see her go.

Cid is NOT really working towards any goal whatsoever?
If you ask a member of the Shadow Garden organization, they could say that they serve Shadow as a devoted follower with the goal of becoming a global organization enough to take down the cult of Diablos for good.

If you ask Cid what his goal is... Well, there really is none. Aside from wanting to be so strong that he becomes the EMINENCE IN SHADOW He desires to be so strong that he manages to be atomic, he is the strongest character by an incomprehensibly massive margin to anyone else, we've seen individuals who wanted to be part of the Cult's Knights of Round, but we haven't seen those who are actually in the Knights of Rounds, nevertheless, I believe Shadow is the strongest.

SO then really, already achieving his objective and not really believing that the cult is even real, what the fuck is he working towards that isn't to do with being EMINENCE IN SHADOW??? He doesn't care enough about the lives of his acquaintances, not even Sherry's, is he really just intent on deriving his pleasure from continuously roleplaying a role to the point that his roleplay reaches the EMINENCE IN SHADOW?

In the end, nothing is really resolved, Sherry and her mother are victims, her mother was so devoted to her research and was living happily before being betrayed by her benefactor who ended up being Sherry's adoptive father, and he turns out to be a cultist, kinda predictable but SO unfortunate considering that he's taken care of Sherry for so long. In the end, he dies and Sherry sees it. And now her emotions are fragile, her mental state shattered, seeing both her mother die was tough but seeing her adoptive father die in front of him by Shadow's hand turned her into a twisted girl hell-bent on taking Shadow down, he made the mistake of turning a sweet young girl with impressive intellectual capability into his enemy.

At least the Shadow Garden Entrance was cool

Knowing your "father" killed your mother and used you for the past 10years is even crueler.
Shadow spared her from that, and by acting as the villain gave her a goal to overcome remorse and go forward.

Shadow was very Ainz in this ep, not caring about someone's death than actually taking revenge for her.

Yeah, that sounds like Ainz, only that Ainz doesn't unnecessarily create an enemy that would be hell-bent on killing him or his subordinates. Sherry is a major threat due to her intellect, applauded as the girl with the brightest mind when it comes to research on artefacts and such.

A parallel can be made between Ainz and Cid as Shadow, they are supreme leaders of their own powerful organization, they're both kinda aloof in that their subordinates' grand plans are never always clear to them, they even practice acting to present themselves as whatever character they're trying to play, but the significant difference between them both are their drive, motivation and clear goal. Not caring about the consequences of his actions is what Cid does that Ainz doesn't do.

I'm just confused how Sherry didn't realize who killed her mother when her murderer was right there in the room with her? I wish they showed how that situation played out or how he left the room without her noticing. Otherwise it was an alright episode.

@Huncho Yeah, the depiction really didn't do well with the logic there. My best guess is that the scene where she witnessed the death is some time before she enters the room to see the body but they were just combined to seem like one scene for efficiency of story telling. Like maybe the reality was when she was in the room he wasn't there and she was just imagining the murderer behind her as a reconstruction from what she heard in the other room. Pretty much unreliable narrator. That or she was kind of brainwashed/ groomed afterward but deep down she knew it was him that killed her mother and because she had no other choice buried the memory to accept a father that treated her well and acted like he loved her. Then again she does seem really oblivious and willing to believe falsehoods. She kept attracting attention from all the guards and despite hearing scream, death gurgles, and seeing obvious evidence of them being killed around her she acts ignorant. Perhaps she really is that oblivious.

@Ready_Player_1 Them combining the scenes is a good theory and makes it make a bit more sense, I remember thinking that scene was terrible.

Lmao Cid just let Sherry walk into the tunnels alone. What a great friend he is. Somehow Sherry is totally fine with it.

As soon as the flashback scene played, I could immediately tell Sherry's adoptive dad was the killer. Even the shot where the room where Sherry's mom died transitioned to the funeral scene, the guy was in the exact same place as the killer. Whoever directed this scene couldn't make it more obvious if they tried. And of course, with hints from previous episodes like how the assistant principal is also a decent fighter, it was super obvious who the man in the armor was too.

Barnett vs Cid/Shadow was actually pretty cool ngl. But it's so funny how he didn't realize Shadow was Cid until the very end. Bro's cloak is like Superman's glasses.

And Sherry saw her "father" die. She never learned the truth about anything. Wtf Cid. Sherry is the kind who's academically gifted but is dumb about everything else. I know it's hard but telling her the truth would've been better. But I guess she needs to have her "Spider-Man killed my father" moment like Harry Osborne. I'm surprised she's going to another country. But it should be whenever she comes back.

Shadow Garden is now a terrorist organization, huh? It's cool that Cid's ideology isn't righteous or evil but he should know that this will make his secret life a lot harder, no? Is he gonna kill everyone who stands against him now? Who am I kidding? Of course he will. That old bastard had the last laugh after all.
