Actually, just like the title suggests, this anime is just perfect for a beginner: it’s easy content-wise, has short sentences, uses simple vocabulary and yet is interesting story-wise and, of course, has great animation. I’d definitely suggest this as a starting point for Japanese learners only starting their immersion journey with anime. So, yeah, I have to admit that I who initially started immersing with stuff like Trinity Seven and Tokyo Ghoul was quite a fool… Dang, now I really regret I haven’t discovered Ghibli’s movies earlier.

This is a great observation! It also has a similar premise to that of Thumbelina, which is a fairly popular western tale. The Secret World of Arrietty is undoubtably a film worth watching.

Good to know, I might look into viewing it that way someday.
