| the first season will have lower score because people who are not into Mushishi checked it out, didn't like it and dropped it those people did not come back for season 2, only the ones who already enjoyed season 1 got back so it makes sense that the MAL score for season 2 is higher just something to think about when looking at MAL scores, we need to be careful to judge anime based on that as to your question: I prefer season 1 too |

| I also enjoyed the first season more than S2 part1 but S2 part 2 had a lot of really nice episodes and I would rate part 2 as high as S1 |
