Is Yumiella name a play on words?

If you take her name, Yumiella. Yumi in japanese from I seen means "Beauty." From what I know, Ella can mean "Goddess." Her last name, Dolkness, replace the "ol" in her name with "ar." So with it, we get Beautiful Goddess of Darkness. The obvious evidence is supposed to be the most powerful human and her powers with dark magic. I wonder if it was intentional.

it's normal nowadays in anime, I think they just pickup whatever they feel like a cool word. like last year an anime MC has name Fate Graphite i was like wtf!

Most anime names are referring to their character in some way. I see so many possible ways to make wordplay from Yumiera (from katakana writing) but most of the other names in the show are badly pronounced western names so it’s not necessarily that way. And also there isn’t a kanji writing of the name anywhere, suggesting no native Japanese meaning.
But Yumi is the Japanese for bow, either the kind that shoots arrows or the type that plays violin.
Era in Japanese can mean huge or tremendous but adjectives usually attach to the start of a word, not after so ‘tremendous bow’ would be Erayumi…
Era can also be gills, or in katakana the loan word error in computer speak.
In Latin based languages the suffix Elle or Ella mean little and also feminise a name, so there may be a crossover of languages where it could mean a girls’ name ‘little bow’.
Last thing to explore would be European language meanings for the yumi part I guess…

Ps I see no way to read yumi as beauty in Japanese, things like utsukushii, kirei, or the prefix bi are the usual ways to say that.
Also out of interest, yami means darkness so with a twist of pronunciation yamiella can be little darkness, making for a weird full name 😂

I did a Google search for the word Yumi. It came up with beauty or abundance. That's where I got it from. Something about changing the Kanji for it?

Never trust Google to translate Japanese, it’s really not something that can be programmed. I have been learning for 3 years and have many useful tools, but that translation doesn’t seem to work. But I’d be grateful for a natural Japanese speaker to jump into this discussion, that’s the best way to get educated!

But then if I search in baby names, yes dead right! Now I see it, as a name Yumi is Reason, Friend or Beautiful. The learning curve is still steep 😂

Thanks for the lesson anyway. I'm interested in learning other languages, but I'm very bad at learning them. So, even if unreliable, Google is my only source of finding out things.

Dolkness (ドルクネッス, do-ru-ku-ne-ssu) is a good way to write darkness in Japanese text, it’s the nearest to the English sound that is possible in the limited number of phonemes that exist in Japanese. Note the L that gets used in translation at least by Crunchyroll and MAL is not even a valid sound in Japanese. KonoSuba did it with Dakunesu, which loses the ar sound at the start. It would work better as Dākunesu by extending the a. It depends on the writer’s pronunciation skill in English how they write words that are foreign to them.
