Absolutely love video games from a studio called Millenium Kitchen so this anime feels right at home with those summer countryside vibes
Seems like there will be more to it than just youkai living in harmony with humans but it'll be interesting to see what gets developed from this given that there's more to meet than it's surface
Jirou tho, he has such big oniisan vibes and looks so fluffy I wanna hug him 🙈

Tonari no Youkai-san, as an anime, perfectly encapsulates the quintessential essence of slice-of-life…

The prominence of yōkai in manga/anime, makes a series about their daily lives as they live among humans pretty captivating.

Learning the real life lore behind these Japanese legends, with the premise of them having regular mundane lives is turning out to be way more awesome than I initially imagined.

Amazingly detailed narrative. It's rich in detail. For example, Jirou puts 2 sushi on the altar, and after it rained there was only one left. There's a lot of that going on here. Shadows, silhouettes, something on the edge of visibility and out of focus.
It's also a nice, juicy drawing. I hope the whole season will be on this level.

love Jirou already, he seems like a very sweet guy just trying his best to be somewhat of a father figure for Muu-chan
I didn't expect that darker turn of events at the end, I think it will be a cool contrast against the calm slice of life moments ; )
