Oh boy, characters using extortion to gain money. Why am I not surprised this still happens in this anime?

Suzuki's clash against Akira is also interesting to note as the two seems to be playing a game against each other. A thrilling episode although I wish Misaki didn't get involved again.

Let Mr. Pervert's downfall BEGIN.

You don't know how BIG MY FUCKING SMILE WAS WHEN THE DETECTIVES PULLED UP THE EVIDENCE AGAINST THIS PRICK. AND IT JUST KEPT GETTING BIGGER AS THE EPISODE KEPT GOING. Animation has been alright up until now, BUT THOSE REFLEXES FROM AKIRA WERE SO GOOD, THANK YOU FOR PUTTING ALL THE BUDGET INTO THE BEATING SCENE OF THIS PRICK TEZUKA. THANK YOU.

In all honesty though, neither groups are really good. I mean, in retrospect, the detectives are the ones in the right, but at the same time, these dudes only did this for one reason and this one reason alone, that being for that money. And Mr. Pervert.. well, that's pretty self explanatory. Really loved the fact how this dude Akira fr just threatened the assailant like any normal person would lol. W boss man though for keeping the whole him being strong thing in secret. Then we got this absolute idiot underestimating MY GOAT YOUKO...

Best episode of the series so far. No questions.

Super Youko, I had no clue she was that badass with a gun. Honestly, I was hyping them up too much, these criminals are a joke compared with Akira. Lol

Cool episode, tons of stuff happened, can't believe the mom actually paid 400k that easily, Sato's martial art is still a blast to see even the boss liked it but what stole the show this week was the sister move with the table, that was insanely cool and prove she's not just the driver/intel girl damn

Also seems like we're blessed with two episodes this week, very nice.

"But it was just attempted!"

With how things were going, I thought they were building up to some grand faceoff between Fable and Dio, but Youko of all people gets the drop on him. Hentai-kun falling to Fable's bam-bam-flank attack also kicked ass.

That mom is fucking retarded, how did the word 'money' not bring her to senses.

Akira with the moves.

Akira didn't even have to show up at his home for that clown to get fooled.

Ah shit, the guy I kidnapped escaped! How dare he! I'm going to kill him!!! Yes... How dare he lol.

Ayt so we all just gon to pretend like that was 22 minutes....

Colour me surprised when Misaki stood on business, a part of me is relieved that she knows how to handle herself, I suppose it makes sense my goat needs to keep herself safe with all them stunts she pulls on drunk guys.

Dang I got goosebumps from the final minutes of the episode. Hoping that they'll make more seasons. Or maybe I'll just go with manga but even with how low quality this adaptation is I'm kinda digging it.

Holy fuck Yoko! Damn, this was the most badass episode of any series I've seen this year. Thank Christ that in such a mediocre season for anime, possibly the most mediocre I can ever even recall, this series exists. What a gem.

Well, they had real actual footage of him installing one of the hidden cameras which was displayed to her. In addition, he gave himself away with his physical (body language) and verbal reaction and responses, and I'm sure she knows her son. So at that point it's basically confirmed as real. Now, put on the spot and internally panicking in that moment, you don't have much time in a real situation like this to work out what's going on. It makes sense she'd just go with assuming they are who they say they are - otherwise how could they obtain this footage of her son? If they are actual police/law enforcement invested with governmental authority, that'd be even worse for her and the son, and it probably isn't the case otherwise he'd just be arrested or brought in for questioning and the whole encounter would have gone down differently.

So the only other assumption is that they are career criminals posing as a private investigator and a corporate lawyer, which is kind of a wild leap and something she probably didn't want to countenance. If she actually thought they were criminals impersonating occupational roles and called them out during the meeting, then in a way that'd be worse as they'd be in very real immediate danger. And since they were able to leave the meeting safely and of their own free will, she might have thought about it and doubted it offscreen in however long a time it was between when they were there and the transfer of the money, but who could she turn to? The police who would then investigate and potentially arrest her son? In a desperate position, if you have the money to be able to spare, it makes sense psychologically just for her to throw money at the problem as demanded and hope it goes away. Especially because we learned of Kainuma's upbringing, that he was pampered and spoiled, so she's probably at least middle to upper middle class, so has the money and is used to using it to solve problems.

Not saying she couldn't have done anything differently, but it was a very logical, predictable, and realistic way for her to behave.

@WatchTillTandava Yeah, typically the reason to even have money in the first place is to make problems go away, why have money otherwise?

I really love how real this criminal group feels and I wonder how many if any groups operate with this structure. It just seems like there would be money to be made.

Indeed. And I wish there were more crime anime like this or just in general. Rei Utsubo is a fun character. I hope he gives more speeches on his ideology and reasons for doing things and the particular way about them before he perishes in the end if that is what ultimately comes to pass. But from everything I've seen of crime series and films in anime and in other mediums, it's usually a larger organization with its family structure and hierarchy, rituals, and more formal/ceremonial roles and titles, like in certain material covering Italian mafia, Japanese yakuza, Chinese Triads, Russian mob, and other similar syndicate and cartel-esque organizations. Or it's more at the street gang level and usually much younger people.

But to see a small independent cell operating like this with an ex-yakuza guy and seemingly not under any main yakuza branch or any other central authority, under this guise and facade of white-collar professionals and business people, fake business cards in tow and all, is quite novel and fascinating to me and seems scarily and refreshingly authentic. It's like a cross between more traditional mobsters and Indian telephone scammers.

Utsubo and Isaki doing God's work by exposing Kainuma, with the latter naturally coming in for the aid to lay charges and reach a settlement, all in the effort to exhort money for their wellbeing, and also being in the plan of making him disappear from their sight, as well as target Misaki all the same. On the other hand, Akira helping Hinako with her therapy, and avoid a near-catastrophic kill of Kainuma murdering Misaki after she got Hinako's call, it all adds up.

With Misaki's boss capturing the entire affair, it's clear that Akira knows who he's dealing with, Suzuki: who kidnaps Kainuma to bring him to safety. Still, Akira wants minimal collateral damage, and he means it, on top of Octopus's affair, which the boss points out what he knows and Akira admitting to his belief, not wanting to arouse his attention. Furthermore, Suzuki targeting the Maguro Group-owned house with Yoko, she denies all until she actually puts her words into action. Also, Kainuma being free of Isaki's kidnapping, it's just craziness after craziness incoming...

It's a crazy world of killing...

Will Youko be able to keep Dio under control? They spent a couple episodes hyping the guy up so I have my reservations.

Pretty cool episode. All participants are now into motion and I couldn't be more excited for the arc's eventual resolution.

That was great episode! and that ending with Youko! This arc is so much better than previous one. I am thinking of raising it to score 9 if it keeps good till the end, but then the OP and ED are way worse than first ones and it is important for me when scoring..

After comedy, action, depth, emotions… I didn't expect this animé would also have a surprise element especially that far in the story progression and a plot twist before the ending finale - This is something very very rare in any story let alone in an animé that too served so delightfully. *claps x3

I had to replay Sato's three hits at least 6 times and then Yoko dropped out of no where, it was so smooth and unbelievable that I had to replay that transition several times as well. I wonder if she's the one who's supposed to finish off Sato if boss's order (of no killing) is ever broken.

I know he was probably in shock, but COME ON the prez reacted way too slow when he saw Kai about to stab Misaki. He just stood there and stared while barely stuttering her name

Anyway, I love how many might think we might have a cool final showdown between Akira and Dio, only for Dio to show up at Yoko's place for her to whoop his ass

Youko pulling out that badass move at the end there! I really like her character that I think if I had more room in my favorites, I would include her there depending on how the series goes. Akira is great, too. Also, it's a pleasant surprise that their relationship has remained platonic (putting aside Akira's complete lack of interest). I thought that with them being paired up at the beginning and the "brother"/"sister" thing that a romance would be inevitable, but nope, it's not happening.

Youko is so awesome. She keeps slowly revealing more and more about herself, she might be the most dangerous character in the whole show.

Solid writing this arc. The heist might be a little too elaborate, but the show took its time building out the plan, the web of encounters and the characters, and now it's time to collect. Everything unfolded at a good pace this episode, everyone acted in a believable and understandable fashion, and there were good character moments. Very excited.
