What the hell! He just died!

Based on the first three episodes, it's maximum cringe. There's the standard "smart" Japanese schoolboy who makes the dumbest decisions possible, and then there's a European medieval setting written by a Japanese person that looks like any standard fantasy dystopia. The Inquisition is like something out of Warhammer 40k, burning everyone at the stake. It looks too unrealistic to take seriously. I'm not even sure if it's worth continuing to watch.

WOW! I 100% expected him to either lie again at his trial, much like how he has done to save himself, or to weasel his way out of torture. But...no, the story fully committed to the consequences of his actions, and I have mad respect for that.
Really excited to see where things go from here, especially knowing that not even the main character is safe.

So Nowak was a heretic and he changed due to fear of death, totaly understandable.

I'm totally impressed by Rafai's courage and how hard it would be on a person to accept such fate. He was prepared for his death even before that. I can't say for sure if he's dead or not, but I don't want for that reality yet.

I'm not sure how I fell about Hubert, but he still stands strong on his code.

@OrigamistToo damn bro was smart he died at 12 year old. Wait, what was that again? Aren't you contradicting yourself here? "Regular smart Japanese schoolboys" actually beat the system without any effort (see Promised Neverland)

Also, isn't Inquisition literally known for killing and torturing people, sometimes completely innocent?! How is this "unrealistic". Dude. Are you trying to be "different" to gain some attention? Well here's some, maybe get better arguments if you want to make some point. Because next time you're going to complain they are speaking Japanese

@TheMangaManiac Dude, I was discussing the last three episodes all at once here. Looks like your "ordinary Japanese high schoolers" are from a slightly different era. And here we have our incredible Japanese protagonist with completely standard internal monologues, like, "I’m the smartest one here, I’m better than all these little humans," as if you’re watching Classroom of the Elite or something.

The fact that they found him because Novak has some kind of spider sense and managed to identify a heretic just by looking at a 12-year-old kid can’t be explained by anything other than the author’s whims. He died because he literally wanted to incriminate himself in court, deliberately going against the system. Oh, and let’s not forget how he magically smuggled a bottle of poison into his prison cell and killed himself—he "outsmarted" the old inquisitor, so to speak. Even here, the kid "beat the system," just as you said.

Oh yes, yes, the Inquisition burned half of Europe at the stake back in the day, just like in Hollywood movies, and the church ruled the world and was super evil-evil, with all the clergy bathing in gold stolen from simple peasants, just like Scrooge McDuck. Please, continue to show off your lack of education. But really, what’s the point of talking to you if you get offended on the internet by people with opinions different from yours? Lol.

Wow so Rafal didn't lie about his heliocentrism convictions even in front of the court... too bad his adoptive father had to speak about his work but he was under pressure, meanwhile Nowak is really a special character, I loved his philosophical discussion with him about life. So they really burned Rafal alive??? And seems like he left the heliocentrism work to the ones who would find it thanks to the collar like Hubert did...

The touching and profoundly sad death for the truth, the protagonist has, moreover he was only 12 years old. The church as usually does was against the truth which is an aspect of God.

Wow I just started watching this show seeing it's high rating not knowing what to expect but I'm shocked. I literally almost shed a tear from how beautiful that was. I almost don't even want to continue because Rafal was turning into the perfect character and now he's gone. I might just let this episode simmer in my brain for a while. That was crazy.

Damn, what an episode... I was sadly spoiled that Rafal dies thanks to Wikipedia, but I didn't expect it would happen so early.

This anime is absolutely fascinating, I've never seen anything quite like it before.

The hell? Oh hell no, the MC will die just like that? well I guess he's not the MC anymore but goddamn. If I were him, I would also poison the other son of a bitch who torture people.

I see where this is going, we are going to have a bunch of MC who will die a horrible death, oh well, I'm not complaining, I'm enjoying this anime, so far so good.

Interesting seeing a main character die 3 episodes in.

Kinda expected to stick to his own truth and he did!
He died to inspire the world to find their own truth instead of blindly following the system.

I enjoyed their discussion in the cell, the hypocrisy is strong with Nowak. - "But they didn't know any better back then"

R.I.P. Rafal. Seriously, did this show just kill off the most favourited/popular character in the show? After only around for 3 episodes? wtf? Oh, and he's a main character too according to MAL, so I just saw one of the main characters die. Would've been better if he was around for 15 episodes before dying, as 3 episodes is not enough for me to care about a character.

What an unbelievable turn of events. I never expected that the mc would simply just die in episode 3...This is crazy. This episode made me so invested in this story. His words were powerful in his last moments.
