| --- Best Anime of Summer 2024 --- Heyho comfy campers, welcome to our next seasonal best anime voting. We shall keep on including all anime of a season, same categories, but re-introducing popularity countermeasures this time, so yeah, time to mention all the shows you watched any noteworthy number of episodes of. Just like last times, you are also still able to name up to three entries in each category (five entries in best character). May we find what truly fits us =w= There are 6 categories to vote for: (☆Watched Anime:☆) ☆Best Anime☆ ☆Comfiest Anime☆ ☆Positive Anime Surprise☆ ☆Best Character☆ ☆Best OP☆ ☆Best ED☆ - it might become big in some cases, but please, provide a list of all summer anime you feel like having any type of opinion of (by for example having watched even just one episode). This will make sure that even a more niche show can have winning chances - in Best Character, you can list up to 5 entries, while in the other five categories, up to 3 entries are allowed. - not all spots need to be filled (could for example name a #1 and #4 character while leaving the others empty), because the #1 on a list will receive the most score when ultimately determining the club's favourite. - characters and anime must come from Japanese TV Shows or TV Shorts that started airing in the Summer 2024 season. Please refrain from naming movies, OVAs, ONAs and simple song entries thus -> choosing either TV Show or TV Short as Format, one way of finding a browsable list is on anilist: https://anilist.co/search/anime?year=2024&season=SUMMER - OPs and EDs have to have debuted in the target season, thus please none from e.g. 2cour shows that only just came out during this Fall - feel free to interpret any category in a way that suits you. Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines 2. Oshi no Ko 2nd season 3. Isekai Shikkaku I scored Oshi no Ko higher overall, but given this club’s aesthetic, I’m giving top spot to Makeine. Comfiest Anime 1. Ramen Akaneko (comfiness incarnate) 2. Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines (kinda fanservicey at times, but overall themes of friendship & support shine through) 3. 2.5-jigen no Ririsa (kinda fanservicey, but an overall message of doing what you love despite negative opinions & criticism. And the two leads’ cluelessness about each other’s feelings is kinda cute). (Magical Girl & Evil Lieutenant has a comfy art style & the romance is sweet, but the Cat Familiar’s perviness & Hibana’s repeated use of a 4 letter word work against it. Likewise, Dungeon People has a cute art style & the Clay/Belle dynamic is adorable, but the series touches on some surprisingly dark subject matter at times) Positive Anime Surprise 1. Isekai Shikkaku (has a recurring theme of redemption despite the MC’s suicidal tendencies being treated as humorous) 2. Ramen Akaneko (was surprised that the episodes were full length & it was able to maintain it’s charm throughout) 3. 2.5-jigen no Ririsa (the 2 leads’ relationship is actually surprisingly wholesome & supportive) Best Character 1. Anna Yanami (Makeine) 2. Tama (Isekai Shikkaku) 3. Krishna (Ramen Akaneko) 4. Mayuri Hanyuu (2.5-jigen no Ririsa) 5. Clay (Dungeon People) HM: Belle (Dungeon People) Best OP 1. Mikansei Rendezvous (Magical Girl & Evil Lieutenant) 2. Shika-iro Days (My Deer Friend Nokotan) 3. Renacer Serenade (Reincarnated as a Slime season 3) Best ED 1. Feel My Soul aka Komari’s ED (Makeine) 2. Honjitsu no Osusume (Ramen Akaneko) 3. Miracle Soup (Reincarnated as a Slime season 3) I’m aware that Reincarnated as a Slime 3 debuted during the Spring season, but the OP & ED I voted for debuted during the Summer season |

Na-Nare Hana-Nare Dungeon no Naka no Hito Tensui no Sakuna-hime Rick and Morty: The Anime Best Anime 1. Senpai wa Otokonoko Excellent drama. Cute characters interacting with each other as friends or in romantic ways? what's the border between friendships or romantic relationships? trying to find that balance and being true to yourself. I enjoyed it. 2. ATRI: My Dear Moments Beautiful story about a troubled youth and her human companion. Seriously though I thought it was a great story about keeping hope and looking towards the future even in a bleak world. 3. Mayonaka Punch Vampire girls and a human finding their purpose, chasing their passions, and loving one another. Comfiest Anime 1. Giji Harem Almost completely drama-less romance. These 2 will create a very comfy home for their future kids. 2. Tensui no Sakuna-hime There's quite a decent amount of combat and hardships, but these comfy characters have a nice little homebase for themselves among all the chaos. Whatever their previous regrets, they're here now and ready for the comfy rural life. 3. Boku no Tsuma wa Kanjou ga Nai Living in a rundown small apartment by yourself can transform into a comfy paradise with the right companions. Positive Anime Surprise 1. Tensui no Sakuna-hime A strange artstyle and disorienting first episode left me wondering what this show was even trying to be but each passing week the derpy looking characters began to grow on me more and more. I wouldn't have guessed it would have become such a great watch every week. 2. Senpai wa Otokonoko I came in to this series skeptical of what the show would do with its gender themes and also worried the cheap animation quality would hamper the experience. Those worries were completely unfounded as the show did everything perfectly and the animation was a joy, good use of chibi. 3. Boku no Tsuma wa Kanjou ga Nai Can this show really be entertaining when the lead female doesn't even have any facial expressions? They somehow made it work better than I ever could have expected. Best Character 1. Atri The loveable little crab lover gave the best facial expressions every week and her growth and emotional developments over the course of the series were so good. The little roboko with a heart. And she even learned how to cook which I never thought possible! 2. Makoto Hanaoka "I can't believe you're actually an otokonoko! That's like the best thing ever! So that means I get to enjoy both the boy and girl versions of you?!" Makoto is just so adorable whether he's dressed male or female. Never featured a male character as often in the #belly-of-the-week thread. He's so cute and watching him kind of struggling to figure out how he fits in at school or with his family just make me wanna support him so bad. I need to support him vicariously thru the other characters. I need to befriend him and create great happy memories. LOVE. 3. Ryuuji Taiga One of the most adorable male characters ever imo. His unrequited love for Makoto is so pure that I just can't help cheering for him. I cherish his smiles, I want him to be happy and not so insecure. Ganbare Ryuuji. 4. Saki Aoi She brings such a high energy level and a wholesome loving personality. She's not ashamed to love Makoto-senpai. She has her own personal problems with family and I wish she would rely on her friends for support a bit more instead of trying to bear all the burden herself. 5. Rin Nanakura She's very adorable. A great actress. She can play a character perfectly but with her own feelings she gets a little embarrassed. Easier to express herself via Tsundere-chan, Koakuma-cha, Amaenbo-chan, Cool-chan, and the rest. Best OP 1. Mayonaka Punch whatchu whatchu gonna do? I love theme songs sung by an ensemble of the actual cast of the show, here's a very genki example, high BPM, great vocals, and fun high effort visuals to accompany it. Great Opening. 2. 2.5 Jigen no Ririsa SHUTTER CHANCE DOUZO! This male vocalist is just too good and the rhythm really makes me wanna dance as I sing along. Good visuals including a cut that looks like it could be from the show within a show Ashford Chronicles or whatever its called. 3. Dead Dead Demon's Dededededestruction Sukoshi dake. Lovely duet sung by the main 2 girls in the show. The lyrics and visuals end up being a crucial part of the plot as well which adds to its memorability. 4. Boku no Tsuma wa Kanjou ga Nai uu uu! uu uu, uu uu. uu uu? Including a 4th OP just in case the dededededede show is not eligible for this. Adorably cute and bubbly song with cute visuals that hint at later developments in the show. Such a great vibe I can listen to it forever. Best ED 1. Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi Really weird song but it totally works. Visuals in it are really good, showing the characters in anachronistic dress. 2. Tensui no Sakuna-hime Here's a slow song that just has slideshow visuals, normally wouldn't be a high choice for me but hearing the start of this song just brings back so many emotional memories of great eps that transitioned into this lovely song. The female vocalist is lovely and the use of Japanese instruments fits the setting really well. Also the visuals despite not being animated are some pretty lovely illustrations of the characters and world. 3. Boku no Tsuma wa Kanjou ga Nai turu turu turu turu~ Another slower song, maybe this is the vibe I prefer from EDs as they wind down an episode. I think this one provides a good contrast with the show's more upbeat OP. Also this ED is the one of the only times that Mina smiles in the show. |

Gimai Seikatsu (why rating so low for such a good anime :whenlifesrough:) : Nice and realistic slowburn romance, one of the best novel adaptation I have seen in a while. 2. Makeine: Anna was GOAT, other characters are also nice and lovable. Comedy is on point, reminds me of konosuba. 3. Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria: not into action shounen that much but I like this one, also a HP fan so slight into these kind of things. HM: Shoshumin Series: both kids need to find a hobby but I like these kind of focus on small mundane stuff. Comfiest Anime: 1. Giji Harem 2. Gimai Seikatsu Positive Anime Surprise: 1. Gimai Seikatsu 2. Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria Best Character: 1. Anna Yanami (Makeine): GOAT 3. Yuki Suou (Roshidere): actual FMC 3.
