Taro just born to serve someone. Hajime is born to lead. And Nio can do both. That's probably why those adult in Miburo want these three to go on mission together, it's just fun to watch, and youths should have friends of the same age.

The one who won the drinking contest was the one who sat quietly doing it. LOL

Nio thinking about some important questions regarding his hometown. The drinking contest was a lot of fun. Seeing the Miburo all jolly and having fun after the tense hunt for those criminals. Everyone drinking to extreme excess so much that they start all doing wild things. Talking to the wall, wrestling, showing off scars, all kind of wild drunk behavior. Serizawa talking to Nio about what would he do if he couldn't stay in his hometown of Kyoto. You can't let your whole existence be tied to where you were born. Because what's going to happen to you if for some reason you can't live there anymore. Nio taking Taro and Hajime to his grandma's was so wholesome. I loved this part of the episode. Very heartfelt having Nio return to his grandma's shop. Taro definitely was in his element serving at the restaurant, probably the happiest he's been in a long time not having to worry about being killed. Hajime not having as much of a fun time be he came around to it. Nio talking to his grandma at bedtime was very sweet. Hearing her talk about raising him and Iroha as it helped her experience life again was so sweet. I'm glad Nio could come see her and get perspective about his relationships with the people he meets. Because this next arc is all about him meeting someone important.

The amount of people hating on this really surprised me. I think it’s so good the average score is like a 6 I have it at a 7.7, story is fun, the characters are cool, and the animation is beautiful there doesn’t need to be fight scenes every episode for something to be good. I find this anime very enjoyable!

it was a good ep but something is missing to enjoy it more...
Life's too short for mid anime/manga. Don't like it? Drop it.

The "halfway point" of the story with the Miburo now under the Aizu Domain, and there the Miburo is...drinking their heart out and making a joke of themselves being awfully drunk. When it all comes down to it, it's Nio, Hijikita and Serizawa left, with the latter to talk about his unfavorable family and wanted to build a domain of his own, and the latter sharing his personal aspirations for his own.

The next order of business to get a new coat of arms with clothings that would make them all feel like family, and Nio going back to his grandmother alongside both Taro and Hajime, she found herself some "un"needed help to assist serving customers, which Taro perfectly suits being a helper, and Granny still remembers how her son looked like enough to get a sleepover for the children. Of course, Hijikata's thoughts towards Nio if he was driven out of Kyoto, he and his grandmother feel the same, being grateful for the life they have in Kyoto alongside Iroha. It's definitely the greatest treasure of Nio's life with the life he's given now.

A downer of a chill episode, but no means bad at all.

Nagakura, the guy with the mustache, survives turmoil and is telling the story of how the Miburo became the Shinsengumi as an old man in the future.
Inoue wins the drinking competition; he was quiet and didn't cause a ruckus, instead leanign on the wall just drinking.
The series gives an explanation of how they got their iconic blue-green happi coats; Nio's adoptive grandma made them
Saitou and Tarou got hired. This is like Yahiko working at Akabeko all over again lol
Grandma would rather die in Kyoto then leave, Nio has formed his reason for staying with the Miburo; to protect Kyoto and its people.

Rather chill episode. The starting first half was fun as they find the strongest among them my drinking until they pass down. And the second half was Nio finally spending some family time with his granny after joining in the Miburo.

Hajime was somewhat forced to learn to be gentle while Taro finally found an actual place where he truly belongs.
