AngelofFrost said:Finally caught up with the latest volume of Seirei Gensouki after watching the anime season 2. The last time I read the light novel was like 3 years ago and I read up to volume 16. Had to re-read a few volumes again cuz I forgot many details and finally managed to catch up to volume 26. I must say I had an absolute blast binge reading 10+ volumes of Seirei Gensouki over the last 2 weeks.
This volume was more on the relaxing side after the epic battle on volume 25. Rio can finally live together with everyone in the mansion again after a long time. It feels like we the LN readers had to wait more months than what took Rio to get back together with girls again cuz that memory loss arc was a bit too long haha. It's awesome to see all the wholesome moments with everyone again.
The main highlight of this volume was Rio's conversation with Lina. She basically confirmed that all the reincarnations including the ones of Rio, Miharu, Latifa and Liselotte were her doing and there are no coincidences. She also mentioned the tragedy that would have taken place if she did not reincarnate them in this timeline. The author used this conversation to hint at a lot of things we can expect from future volumes. Like Rio being able to have 6 disciples. The author might probably use this excuse to power up a lot of girls who are currently weak and need protection during fights. Celia getting cheat power came out of nowhere in volume 22 and Miharu has Lina inside her, so those two are probably fine without power ups. Sara, Orphia and Alma can put up a decent fight and Satsuki is a hero, so we can leave them all out. The remaining girls who are close to Rio that need protection include Christina, Latifa, Liselotte, Charlotte, Flora, Sayo, Komomo and Aki. We can probably expect the remaining 5 disciples to be chosen from these girls. There are also the boys like Saiki, Kouta, Shin and other retainers like Gouki, Kayoko and Aoi, but I don't really see any of them getting chosen as a disciple lol.
As of now, the ones with the highest probability of becoming a disciple are Christina, Latifa and Liselotte. Latifa and Liselotte because Lina went to the trouble of reincarnating them both into this timeline and Christina cuz Lina straight up told Rio to make her a disciple. Princess Christina is one of my favorite characters in Seirei Gensouki. I really hope she ends up becoming a disciple instead of becoming Queen of Beltrum. Though I don't see Rio making her a disciple unless she faces a life and death situation and the only choices remaining are to either make her a disciple or let her die. The final epilogue scene with Rio and Christina in the rain was so good. I hope we get more details about what she was thinking during that time in the next volume.
The other parts of the volume mainly focused on the slice of life wholesome scenes and the noble drama with duke Hughenot and his son Steward. I can't believe it took 26 volumes to bring Steward to justice as he was one who caused Rio a lot of trouble in school and abused Latifa when she was a slave. That scene towards the end where Latifa took courage and timidly invited her Flora-oneechan to dinner after being exposed as a lowly beastman slave almost made me tear up. Flora's reaction was also so heartwarming.
The end of the memory loss arc was a welcome one for the characters and the LN readers alike. But the entire memory loss plot ain't resolved and the rules of the god are still absolute. The girls will forget Rio again if they leave the barrier covering the Galarc kingdom. I wonder how the author is gonna address things when they have to travel to Beltrum kingdom or the Spirit village. I'd hate it if another memory erasure bs happens again.
Anyways, I think I managed to cover the main parts of this volume in this comment, though I ended up typing a bit too much haha. Even though the series reached 26 volumes, it feels like the overall plot has only reached the half way completion point. There's still much story to be told. The way the author is pacing this series makes me think there are going to be at least 40 and probably 50+ volumes by the time the series ends. Having to wait multiple years sucks but I'm fine with it if it helps flesh out the story more. Looking forward to reading more Seirei Gensouki in the future.
