I wanna watch the Miyazaki movie

How many episodes do I need to watch just to get the full context and know the characters I don't mean to offend but I don't want to watch the whole series just enough to know the characters so I can enjoy the movie

Honestly you could just watch the movie. Lupin III is very self contained from what I've seen, basically being an anthology show of various heists and schemes. Another thing to note is this first show had a drastically different tone at the start due to having a different director before Miyazaki and Takahata.

I watched it without watching the original series, and I found it was easily understandable and enjoyable as a standalone movie.

you can watch practically any piece of Lupin media in any order you'd like, aside from parts 4 and 5, you can hop on to any Lupin movie/part without previous knowledge, since nothing is really connected to anything like, ever.

you don't need to watch anything. Lupin is episodic with the exception of a couple of series. You can watch it anytime you want.
