actually yes to the best of my 30+ years' experience this would be the ONLY anime ever made to promo a sequel or spin-off. if you've proof i'd be happy to read it. printed proof from studios' announcements or production companies' news releases or other official statements. otherwise, this is just pure speculation utilizing merely coincidental dates of release on a calendar.

TYBWA from Bleach took 20 years to make it into anime. that frankly is the LONGEST gap between source printing finale and anime creation ever in anime history. sure, the Bleach game on Playstation is going gonzo and the Light Novels are selling good because of TYBWA. but NOBODY has said anything anywhere i've read that TYBWA is out there because of 'new material' that needs sales bumps.

think on JC Staff and the recently announced 'A Certain Scientific Railgun' new anime season and that... ITEM... wasn't it? side story anime. both those titles are still printing i do believe.

like i said before, why create the 'first story' so to speak in Unnamed Memory THIS CRAPPILY to promo the REST of the story??? somebody watches these two seasons they're gonna TOTALLY pass on even getting the 6 books this show adapts. especially since folks are going to have to go back and buy book 1 (in Japan) published Jan. 2019... a 6-year-old LN???

yeah i scanned over that timeline graphic, confusing as hell... just about as confusing as Monogatari's anime release dates vs LN reading vs chronological order of events lists... if the whole Unnamed Memory franchise is written that chaotically... \shrug/ i personally wouldn't touch it.
@KiliianSleipnir You said it yourself, like Railgun this anime original story is still ongoing. They make anime to promote it, the purpose is to make people interested in the story and buy the sequel book, dunno why it confused you?

@LeonLanford

because simply put, adaptations are made to sell the primary source materials not the sequels. also to make money in and of themselves... BR/DVD disks, streaming services and so forth. in my studies over the past 30+ years watching anime, i've read more than one industry pundit and otaku analyst and journalist pondering the economics and doing deeper research than i can.

there are some pretty basic ideas i've gotten used to.
since 'The Otaku Boom' of the 1980's... 60% or so of all anime are just 12 episodes aired over 1 TV Season in Japan and they're only made to bump existing source materials' sales and merch.

longer format anime (13+ episodes) have mostly come out since 'The Streaming Explosion' and fansubbing etc. post 2000 and Napster with piracy etc. then the international market influence from Asia, North n South America, and Europe providing pay-for-play or subscription IPTV services. i kinda lump Aussies in with 'Asia' since they're in that region geographically. of course, year-long shows like Inuyasha and DragonBall and Bleach and Conan (which did start its anime in 1996 and 2 years after the manga premiered) do exist. also the original long-run Gundam anime, which had no source as it was an all-original project.

that leads me to all anime-original and not derivative projects like Darling in the FRANXX, the first Gundam, Gurren Lagann, FLCL etc. those projects are rare, even today with PC workstations removing the need for all animators to hand-draw every cell. the funding pipeline in Japan just doesn't exist in a strong enough form for all-anime-original works.

Japan has just created an anime marketplace that is nearly 100% adaptations, because that is what their consumers wish to see. their fave books/manga getting a visual media. the West does it too, all the Marvel/DC TV shows and movies, Lord of the Rings, Sword of Truth, Wheel of Time, Harry Potter, The Expanse.

of course, there are the peculiar outliers where fandoms just keep egging 'The Big Yen Guys' on to fund more anime for a franchise, Bleach is the #1 top title anybody thinks of. two decades. \shrug/ the youngest of the fans never held a Shonen Jump book in their paws freshly delivered that same day to the storefront for the next brand-new Bleach chapter. they've watched the older episodes online or on disk or read the manga on Viz's websites or fanslations/fanscans or Viz's tankobon omnibus volumes. heck, the 'foreign' fandom for Bleach could be the biggest piece of TYBWA appearing. i know when Viz's English dub first popped up on CartoonNetwork here in the US i TAPED every. single. episode. on my VHS machine to make sure i never missed a minute of Bleach. then i started buying every DVD i could afford till i completed the whole collection... and it 'still' got canceled in Japan. i even (later on) dug up TV TOKYO market research showing by monetary income that Bleach remained in the TOP 5 ANIME EARNERS for TV TOKYO for the first THREE YEARS after the show was canned. then by the 4th and 5th years Bleach still stayed in the TOP 10 EARNERS... with zero new episodes airing. if i was a TV TOKYO corp-stooge back in the day? i'd have lobbied like mad to pay Pierrot anything they wanted to keep making Bleach episodes and keep selling them worldwide.

an even smaller sliver of the anime marketplace are the studio funded and Kickstarter/Patreon funded ones. that piece of the pie is so tiny i almost forgot to mention it. but if the musicians of the world can self-publish/distribute their music online without a huge record label deal? perhaps that will inspire other media to do the same? i DID LOVE FFF Studio's 'Mecha-ude' (2018) AKA 'Mechanical Arms' Kickstarter funded ONA episode and their TV Season/traditionally funded second version. that one was an all-anime-original crowdfunded project i TRULY was happy went corporate.

in total, the idea might be plausible that SOME viewers of Unnamed Memory S1 and 2 would buy OTHER books from the same author etc. but i'm nigh on 100% sure the actual six books are being re-issued or somehow out for sale. heck, maybe a boxed set of ALL 6 Books? e-Readers are getting more and more popular too!

i know here in the US Orbit (a Hachette Book Group subsidiary) re-printed ALL The Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski when NETFLIX started airing their TV adaptation. i've got those versions on my bookshelf right now, all 8 books. when they first came out i bought and 100% completed all 3 of the PC games for The Witcher before ever buying or opening a single book. if three games (i've got over 900 HOURS on Witcher 3) couldn't convince me to buy a single book and i had to watch the 1st Season on NETFLIX pirated before i realized... 'damn, something is wrong here. i gotta check this!' at $16.99 per book cover-price (i paid less on Amazon for an 8-book package) that could have set me back $135.92??? if Kadokawa has a lick of sense, and i KNOW they do... those 6 Light Novels this anime is based on, are on the shelves brand spanking new in Japan's eTailers and storefronts right now.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

Is this truly the end? So, is it a happy ending, or? They completely destroyed both Eleterria using the Akashia sword. It seems like they are now living happily ever after.

@KingNotSkilled The main story of Unnamed Memory ended with the destruction of the 2 Eletteria orbs. There is a sequel called "Unnamed Memory: After the End" that's still ongoing. The anime ended abruptly as it would've required more episodes to properly explain what happens after the destruction of the orbs. I'll copy paste a part of my own comment here where I explained the ending on some other thread.

As you might have seen in the final episode of the anime, the shards of the orbs pierce the souls of Oscar and Tinasha, turning them into deviants. By deviants, we mean they became something different from normal human beings. Their souls won’t perish after their deaths but instead they'll get reborn into a new body after some amount of time. They'll regain all their past memories including the ones erased by the Eleterria after they reach a certain age. The age is random most of the time. They also don’t age after recovering their memories and are technically immortal as long as they don’t get themselves killed.

What happened after the destruction of the orbs is a complete reset to how the world originally should have been. In this new world the orbs don’t exist, so there won’t be any more time rewinds. The time-reader clan and Valt don’t exist because the boy who became the first time-reader died due the absence of the orbs. Tinasha still becomes the Witch of the Azure Moon after the tragedy that led to the destruction of Tuldarr. Oscar’s mother, Queen Rosalia (daughter of the Witch of Silence, Lavinia) won’t die because Oscar gets kidnapped by the demon and she can’t save him cuz the orbs don’t exist. Instead, his father, King Kevin tries to climb the Azure tower built by Tinasha to request her to find and save Oscar. He fails his attempt to climb the tower, but Tinasha being kind, decides to help him regardless. She kills the bird demon and rescues the children including Oscar as you saw in the anime ending. But what’s different in the light novel is, both Tinasha and Oscar have no memories of the past timelines, the destruction of Eletteria and them becoming deviants.

Tinasha says farewell to child Oscar and return to her tower. The child Oscar on the other hand falls in love with the beautiful witch. This time around, he is not cursed and his mother is still alive, so he had no reason to work hard and train himself to become an outstanding swordsman. But, after the encounter with Tinasha, he uses her as motivation to get stronger. And in the year 1654, like what happened in the first episode of the anime in season 1, he climbs her tower, duel with her and gets thoroughly beaten up. He requests her to train him as his wish for climbing the tower instead of asking her hand in marriage cuz he knew he’ll get rejected instantly if he proposed. Tinasha agrees to accompany him to the Farsas royal castle and train him for 6 months. Now the story unfolds similar to what happened in volume 1-3 of the light novel and season 1 of the anime. In the year 1655, Oscar marries Tinasha, have 3 kids later on and spend their lives happily ever after... or so it should’ve been if it was a normal love story.

The rest of the story continues in the ATE sequel. If you're curious about what happens in the sequel, I made a post on the UM subreddit summarizing the story of the first few ATE volumes. Check it out if you don't mind spoilers.

This show is a mess. The last 3 episodes which are not even the best saved the show because it felt like they're actually doing something with the plot. They keep talking about consequences and we don't see them cause the world is only limited to whatever castle the next episode needs to be set in.
Because they probably wanted to adapt everything in the source material, they went for the "tell-but-don't-show" type of storytelling. I might be wrong.
Valt could've been a better antagonist if they had written and structured the show properly in a way that his intentions are gradually realised through out.
Anyways it certainly isn't the worst of this season. 6/10

Agora porque DIABOS ELES LEMBRAM UM DO OUTRO NO FINAL??! Mas aprecio o ``final feliz´´ que o autor tentou deixar

The romance is peak, but the story is weak.

Season 1 was less of a clusterfuck than Season 2, everything happening was completely random and the episodes felt completely unconnected.
Of course there are a few connection points, but the way it's been shown was not exciting or especially interesting.
The end was ok, but not satisfying enough.

How often do they have to reset Oskar and Tinasha meh

so Tinasha decided to lost her entire nation to get back to the starting point, then choose to destroy the orb?

and it looks to me they both become Time-Reader host when the orb destroyed, and it reset the world once more, right?
because kid Oscar call her like he still have his previous memory though.

and what about Valt? I didn't see him at the end, does it mean he never exist in the last timeline?

am I the only one who feels confused?....what the hell happened??? what is that ending???
okay rewind....so, Valt has been reliving history for a long time because he was retaining his memories every time he or someone else activated the orbs, however that is not all, the girl who is with him is fated to become the next head of the clan and repeat history forever? am I right so far?
okay so his solution is to destroy the orbs so he can save her, but in doing so the current timeline will reset, and Tuludarr would be destroyed, that's why Tinasha wasn't keen on destroying the orbs, so she used the blue orb herself and went back to a timeline similar to that of season one, or maybe the same one I don't know.
anyway, she goes back to that timeline where Tuludarr is destroyed, she is a witch and she is with Oscar, and not only that, she became the new clan head, and retained her memories of the previous timeline, (and other timelines I assume, because of all the flashbacks, or maybe these were her memories of the timeline she jumped to, I'm not so sure about this one(
anyways the blue orb is with her I'm assuming this is because if Tuludarr is no more, then she most have taken the orb with her back then.
she tells oscar what happened and then they decide to destroy the orbs??? she wasn't okay with because valt said it but when oscar said it's okay now???
back to it, Tinasha says destroying the orbs will reset everything, oscar being saved as a baby, the memory clan being born, every change ever made will be gone.
okay...so why are we in a timeline where oscar is kidnapped instead being killed by that bird lady, and why both of them have their memories???? am assuming because oscar had his memories he avoided being killed instead got kidnapped? kid oscar with adult oscar memories...where have I seen this before...hmmm....anyway all is good everyone is happy, it's implied that tuludarr is gone and tinasha is a witch, but all is good, cuz she is with oscar, kinda...and they lived happily ever after.
did I get it right? I feel I'm missing a lot, cuz if that is what really happened....bruh.

While still confusing with bad pacing, it was leagues better than the 1st season. I managed to follow way more this season.
With better pacing this would have been a way better show.
As the 2nd season improved from the 1st, I think a 7/10 is a decent score for it

I have mixed feelings over the finale and this series as a whole. While the previous 3 episodes were well done this series as a whole was definitely rushed and its confirmed by reading comments from those that have read the light novels. It's unfortunate that something like 2 or 3 24 episode seasons weren't made instead of just 24 total episodes as I think this would've been great if the pacing were improved and more background information was provided.

Having said that this was still a somewhat good watch and I liked that there was a conclusion rather than a cliffhanger ending although I understand this story continues on via light novels. I don't know if I will ever read the light novels but I hear that they're great so maybe one day.

What with this anime and absolute weird endings. I don't really support the message of sacrificing oneself for your loved ones even if it ruins the world is wrong. S1 ending was painful but it was beautiful on its own but this time I am not a fan.

This timeline was really interesting and still with a botched adaptation it was far better than 1st one. But that ending really sucked. They didn't need to all the buildup is just vanished again and again. I really wanted to love this series but it never happened. At the very least Tinasha and Oscar did meet so that's a saving grace otherwise it would have been more painful. So 6/10...

Tinasha, Oscar and their pairing is genuinely one of the best in anime. And only reason to watch the anime.

Peak Story! So I will write down a review as an Anime Only watcher where I didn't expect it's turn out evolving time travel, changing time line and so on.

Here's my review:

Okay that's all, if RomCom (10/10), Story Complexity (10/10), Animation (9/10), Character Design (9/10), Illustration/Graphic (10/10), Action (9/10), = 9.5/10, rounding it will make it solid 10/10 !
